Position Summary

The Project Manager Heavy Maintenance Reliability monitors, tracks, and develops actions plans for aircraft reliability issues post heavy maintenance release. The Project Manager interfaces with Maintenance/Repair/Overhaul (MRO) local leadership, JetBlue engineering, planning, and quality assurance to ensure in-service reliability concerns are addressed and corrected during check.  Reporting to the Tech Ops Senior Manager Heavy Maintenance, the Project Manager will be driving the successful execution of the post heavy maintenance reliability as it is produced.   

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collects data from maintenance and engineering systems and performs statistical analysis to monitor and evaluate the operational and technical performance of aircraft post heavy maintenance
  • Analyzes technical data from aircraft maintenance log and aircraft service records to determine cause and failure trends
  • Monitors delays, pilot write-ups and other technical interruptions and evaluates data for trends
  • Produces weekly and monthly reliability reports and provides on-demand technical reports to Technical Operations management as needed to evaluate aircraft and powerplant
  • Analyzes heavy maintenance data to determine cause of failures, makes recommendations for maintenance program adjustments and implements maintenance program escalations
  • Define project team, establish resource allocation with managers from each discipline, facilitate product purchasing, and establish success criteria
  • Schedule and coordinate tasks for deliverables, resources, and projects
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external business partners and internal subject matter experts to produce quality deliverables
  • Coordinate business case development and submissions
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Three (3) years of project management or heavy maintenance experience with practical knowledge of Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV) production work flows
  • Experience in the use of Aircraft Engineering Drawings, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Manuals, and JetBlue Operational Manuals
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Visio and Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply project management techniques, tools and documents
  • Sound decision making ability, analytical reasoning and organizational skills with the ability to successfully complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage project communications and stakeholder expectations at all levels of the organization
  • Possesses highly effective analytical thinking; ability to gather, understand, integrate, and synthesize complex information in order to develop solutions, make recommendations, or propose action plans
  • Financial acumen, moderate return on investment analysis, and ability to structure a business case (or ability to quickly learn said skills)
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of United States
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Knowledge of systematic techniques in reviewing and analyzing heavy maintenance work packages
  • Knowledge of Information Systems and Technical Operations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in change management and process improvement

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
