Position Summary
The Manager, Maintenance reports to the Director, Line Maintenance or to the General Manager, Line Maintenance at designated locations and has overall responsibility to manage all maintenance activities on JetBlue Airways aircraft with particular emphasis on execution of scheduled overnight work. The Manager, Maintenance is the focal point for Aircraft Maintenance and key interface between supporting departments such as; Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Control, Quality Control, Material, and local Operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Directs maintenance and servicing of JetBlue Airways Aircraft
- Provides oversight to the duties of direct reports to ensure implementation of the maintenance program with minimal disruption to flight schedules
- Ensures adequate staffing, manpower, and skills requirements to execute scheduled overnight work
- Assists the General Manager or Director in formulating the capital/operating budget for the business unit
- Has the authority to hire, terminate, and prescribe work rules and job standards for the business unit
- Ensures performance is compliant with internal and regulatory standards
- Manages safety risks in the operation
- Ensures timely completion of overnight maintenance work
- Takes a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant License
- Five (5) years of airline maintenance experience
- Three (3) years of aviation leadership experience
- Working knowledge of Part 121 Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)
- Experience managing a budget
- Track record of capturing value and savings within a Technical Operations function
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal, written, as well as strong analytical and time management skills
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
- Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
- Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor and/or other maintenance vehicles
- Ability to communication effectively; in both oral and written communication
- Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop frequently in confined spaces
- Must be able to use handheld radios and headsets to communicate with the cockpit, dispatch, and other crewmembers
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
- Available for occasional travel (10%)
- Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an aviation-related field
- Experience leading a large and multi department TechOps work group
- Ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, in a demanding, and fast-paced operation
- Accountable and results driven

- Flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT (Department of Transportation), etc.) and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
