Position Summary

The Manager Product Development, Aircraft Interiors reports to the General Manager (GM) Onboard Product and will be responsible for supporting the Aircraft Interiors team as we continue to support and grow JetBlue’s fleet of aircraft and diversify our product offering. This role will work with a variety of teams internally to keep projects moving and on track, while also facilitating day-to-day relationships with a growing ensemble of external Business Partners that support our team on a regular basis.  The ideal candidate will be able to balance commercial objectives with finding creative solutions to meeting Customer needs onboard the aircraft.

 

The candidate is a Customer-focused individual who is skilled at building and maintaining relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization. This self-motivated individual is extremely well-organized, analytical, able to balance and prioritize multiple complex projects, and passionate about aviation and aircraft, and most importantly – exhibits the JetBlue values.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Represent the Product team on all cross-functional linefit and retrofit programs, while working effectively with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Interior Component Business Partners, and relevant Product Design agencies while also liaising with the appropriate internal stakeholder groups
  • Partner with Product Design to ensure adherence to all creative guidelines for trim & finish, lighting, carpets, sidewalls, and any other Customer-facing touchpoints
  • Lead internal executive reviews, steering committee meetings, all-hands sessions and other high visibility meetings to ensure alignment on complex projects and gather feedback as needed
  • Represent JetBlue at critical milestone meetings where we will sign-off on design requirements and formally accept delivery of products such as seats, cabin monuments, and other interior items
  • Lead the introduction of our A321XLR aircraft, ensuring everything is delivered to spec and liaising with necessary workgroups for relevant training, change management, and process development
  • Develop new revenue generating ancillary products and partner with Revenue Analysis on the management of ancillary streams driven by initiatives such as Mint and Even More Space
  • Partner with Brand, IT, and Analyst Product Technology on incorporating product attributes into our digital merchandising platforms to support ongoing revenue growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing, Accounts Payable, TechOps procurement, etc. to effectively structure and launch Request for Proposals (RFPs), issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure business continuity for interiors products as needed (seats, carpeting, laminates, cabin furniture, cushions, textiles, etc.)
  • Provide day-to-day support for many Business Partners, including OEMs, seat manufacturers, consultancies; includes potential Business Partners during product assessment phases
  • Work closely with Inflight and Corporate Communications to gather and organize frontline feedback, diagnose product improvement opportunities, and assist in implementing long-term solutions
  • Support market research initiatives including competitive benchmarking, concept research, and product testing to inform decision making and development prioritization
  • Help establish and maintain close collaboration with other Product Development teams (Onboard Experience, Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity) to ensure seamless development and alignment
  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business; OR a demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of previous airline or travel industry experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of key airline / JetBlue stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Experience working on large-scale cross-functional teams
  • Demonstration of ability to manage Business Partner relationships
  • Comfort and confidence in presenting to internal and external audiences
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (15%)
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstration of highly-developed skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to interact daily with people at different levels within the organization and among Business Partners, including developing and maintaining ongoing relationships
  • Highly motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously; performing work that results in concrete outcomes

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls 
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
