Position Summary
The Senior Analyst Safety Performance and Continuous Improvement will employ project management principles to effect change and continuous improvement within and across multiple operational groups. This position will focus on standardizing and improving safety programs, internal safety dashboards, internal meetings, and strategic audit findings, utilizing program management methodologies, tools, and techniques. The Senior Analyst will oversee the implementation of various Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), monitoring their progress to completion and ensure desired results are achieved.
The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate all activities of safety initiatives to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. The Senior Analyst is responsible for creating and implementing efficiencies and process improvements to maintain an industry-leading Safety Manager System (SMS) program that is strategic and critical to JetBlue’s success and #1 value of safety.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support the standardization of the recording, documentation, and data management of JetBlue’s Safety Review Board and Risk Working Groups
- Coordinate with the Operational SMS Managers and relevant stakeholders to support programmatic oversight of the Safety Management System (SMS), review processes, and implementation/monitoring of corrective action plans
- Coordinate internal resources, develop detailed project plans, manage changes in project scope, measure project performance, and create/maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Continually communicate updates on project status and manage initiative timelines to meet established milestones; report and escalate issues to Leadership as needed
- Promote SMS throughout the organization by facilitating the development of tools and techniques that strengthen Safety Risk Management (SRM)
- Support the Safety Department and other Departments in the conduct of Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs) to ensure hazards are identified throughout the organization and validate the completeness and effectiveness of Safety Risk Assessments and Safety Risk Management performed by other Departments
- Coordinates and partners with relevant operational areas of the organization to ensure findings are subjected to additional validation and assessment and addressed with appropriate follow-up action
- Assist with creating and maintaining measurement tool(s) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance and improvements for supported safety projects
- Conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, handover documentation and ongoing activities to accountable teams and complete a post-implementation review to identify areas of improvement
- Direct focus of data analysis to provide in-depth insight into underlying contributing factors to data trends
- Support the development, delivery, and maintenance of SMS training to ensure Crewmembers possess the competencies appropriate with their role in JetBlue’s SMS
- Ensure adherence to all Safety and Security regulations

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Airline Management, Safety or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Three (3) years of industry experience in aviation safety and/or relevant safety programs
- Formal Safety management training or prior analyst experience within a commercial air carrier
- Experience with management and analysis of aviation data
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 and Safety Management System (SMS) principles and applications
- Working knowledge of regulations and standards governing commercial aviation (International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)) and those governing aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety
- Familiarity with risk modeling tools/approaches (Fault tree, fishbone, bowtie, ARMS, risk matrices, etc.)
- Ability to apply analytical approaches and tools to problem-solving
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint & Word)
- Must be a team player and work effectively cross-departmentally
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, and complete assignments accurately and timely
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Show a passion for getting the job done
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in related field
- One (1) year of experience as acting project manager on cross-functional initiative(s)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt training and certification
- Statistical analysis experience/skills
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis and applied research methods
- Working knowledge of regulations and industry trends governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety

- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary, including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.), and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $56,500.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
