Position Summary: 

The Senior Analyst Flight Ops Safety & Pilot ASAP supports JetBlue’s Pilot Aviation Safety Action Program (PASAP) and Flight Operations compliance with JetBlue Safety Management System (SMS) policies, procedures and risk controls. The Senior Analyst monitors and reports on the implementation of strategies, initiatives and best practices, as directed by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety and SMS/Pilot ASAP Manager, and will play a leading role in incident investigations and subsequent mitigation strategies. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in the administration of the Pilot Aviation Safety Action Program (PASAP) at the direction of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP Manager.  

  • At the delegation of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP Manager, may occasionally serve as acting Pilot ASAP Manager during Event Review Committee (ERC) meetings in the case of his/her absence.  

  • Manages ASAP data within internal databases and ensures accuracy with occasional audits against internal operating procedures as documented. 

  • Assists in supporting the change management process for changes occurring within Flight Operations and external teams. 

  • Collect information to facilitate ASAP event investigation and analysis. Information collection efforts will include, but not be limited to: conducting crewmember interviews, soliciting written statements, and researching technical documents. 

  • Expected to learn and maintain a working knowledge of AC120-66C, JetBlue’s ASAP Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the ERC’s Internal Operating Procedures. 

  • Analyzes data from events, self-assessments, inspections and audits to identify trends and to communicate to various departments as well as leadership. Uses said data to package information on reporting “success stories,” for dissemination as part of Safety Promotion. Occasionally author relevant articles for internal safety publications. 

  • Assists in the preparation for and facilitation of, the Flight Risk Working Group (FRWG) to include ASAP trends and data analysis and presentation of said data to senior leadership. 

  • Performs data analysis using ASAP and Safety Action Reports (SARs), and uses the data to create factual and statistically sound reports and presentations for various groups. 

  • Provides ASAP data to multiple departments for the purposes of training, or other reasons as requested, to include PASAP Top 10 Summary and monthly and annual PASAP reports.  

  • Creation of ERC presentations for use in the monthly meetings, the annual review and the creation and dissemination of meeting minutes to stakeholders. 

  • Additional duties to assist/facilitate essential responsibilities of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS/Pilot ASAP Manager. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related aviation field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience 

  • Three (3) years’ data analysis experience 

  • Two (2) years’ experience creating reports and presentations 

  • One (1) year of experience working within an Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) 

  • Technical knowledge of aviation in either Air Traffic Control, Dispatch or Flight 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of leadership, other internal departments and other industry entities to include, but not limited to, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and Confidential Information Sharing Program (CISP)/Air Traffic Safety Action Program (ATSAP) 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends 

  • Able to follow safety guidelines 

  • Able to perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints 

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%) 

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test 

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 

  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of Aviation Quality Database (AQD) software 

  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Tableau. 

  • Knowledge of CrewTrac and MINT software systems 

  • Experience administering training. 

  • One (1) year of experience utilizing Aviation Quality Database (AQD) database program 

  • Taproot Initial Training 

  • Training in Cognitive Interviewing techniques 

Crewmember Expectations: 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality 

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice 

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance 

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS)components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards 

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems [Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)] 

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls 

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities 

  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.
