Position Title:  Senior Analyst Advanced Qualification Programs and Safety Management System 

 

Position Summary 

 

The Senior Analyst Advanced Qualification Programs and Safety Management System supports the AQP and SMS team and JetBlue University through the management of processes necessary for JBU’s compliance with FAA AQP, SMS, and simulator and training device regulations and IOSA standards pertaining to Crewmember training. The Analyst is responsible for working closely with other teams to ensure the analysis of Crewmember performance in training and operations leads to the implementation of innovative effective solutions in training. 

 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Build and maintain a relationship of trust with all JetBlue University colleges and their operational counterparts as well as with the FAA 

  • With delegated authority from the Manager AQP and SMS, oversee and execute JetBlue’s AQP and SMS in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, guidance, and ISARPs. 

  • Maintain expertise in 14 CFR Part 121 subparts N, O, P, & Y, 14 CFR Part 5, 14 CFR Part 60 and other applicable regulations and guidance 

  • Coordinate with JBU Assessment, Measurement and Evaluation (AME) team to fully understand Crewmember performance data 

  • Partner with JBU Learning Design Team, JBU Colleges, Business Partners and the FAA to ensure delivery, measurement of programs, simulators and training devices are efficient and complaint  

  • Prepare and present AQP and SMS status to JBU teams and JetBlue leadership through AQP reports, Risk Working Group, Safety Review Board, and other meetings on a regular basis 

  • Prepare and present AQP and JBU SMS status to the FAA on a regular basis 

  • Participate in reviews of training programs including observations of training and simulation 

  • Assist with creation and development of innovations in training 

  • Assist JBU teams in compliance with the SMS including SMS processes, documentation, and audits 

  • Maintain AQP, SMS, and simulator and training device manuals and documentation 

  • Prepare and track requests submitted to the FAA as well as status of all approved programs, documentation, and equipment. 

  • Assist in ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations  

  • Additional duties as assigned.  

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  

  • Three (3) years’ experiences in Aviation Training, Aviation Safety Investigations, Aviation Management, Risk Assessment/Management, Human Factors, Project Management, Lean Six Sigma or a similar discipline 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite  

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy  

  • Excellent technical writing skills 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills 

  • Strong attention to detail  

  • Ability to work effectively with technical groups 

  • Ability to clearly articulate complicated technical procedures 

  • Strong organizational and management skills 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with stringent deadlines 

  • Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States  

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test 

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or relevant field 

  • Experience supporting an AQP, an SMS, or FAA regulatory compliance efforts.  

  • Certification as an FAA Pilot, Dispatcher, Mechanic, or qualification as an Inflight Crewmember 

  • Previous experience in an aviation training organization 

  • Experience in Aviation Safety Investigations, Aviation Management, Risk Assessment/Management, Human Factors, Project Management, Quality Management, Lean Six Sigma, or Root Cause Analysis 

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills 

 

Crewmember Expectations:  

  • Regular attendance and punctuality  

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice 

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance 

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR)) 

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls 

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
