Manager, Payroll 

 

Position Summary:

The Manager Payroll is responsible for processing the entire (end-to-end) in-house payroll for all JetBlue Crewmembers and employees of JetBlue subsidiaries to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payment and reporting.  The Manager will also be responsible for researching payroll issues and ensuring compliance with company policies as well as federal, state and local wage and tax laws and some international laws.  This critical position demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service to internal customers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals across multiple locations, providing guidance and leadership to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ensure the timely processing of monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payrolls for over 20,000 employees, guaranteeing accuracy and addressing any issues with prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Manage internal controls procedures within the department, collaborate with auditors, and facilitate compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Support the timely filing of federal and state withholding, year-end reporting obligations, and other statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to optimize payroll and time administration processes.
  • Responsible for timely resolution of all escalated issues and employee inquiries related to pay.
  • Assist in critical HR projects such as system upgrades, and strategic initiatives.
  • Handle garnishments and liaise with third-party providers for seamless processing.
  • Coordinate payroll system enhancements and ensure proper testing and implementation.
  • Address employee inquiries, conduct research, and generate monthly reports for analysis.
  • Manage relationship with third party international payroll providers.
  • Strong coordination with People/HR and IT department, as well as operational departments.
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievement.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Five (5) years of payroll processing experience
  • Understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), taxes, deductions, and garnishments
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available on short notice
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and client server technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of management experience
  • Experience with SAP Payroll and UKG Dimensions time management systems
  • Certified Professional Payroll Certification (CPP)
  • Automatic Data Processing (ADP) tax provider experience
  • Previous airline industry experience

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls 
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

    Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
