Title: Specialist Data Science

Position Summary
The Data Science Specialist is a temporary role lasting for up to twelve (12) months. The Specialist works collaboratively with the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) team, using machine learning and statistical techniques to help solve JetBlue’s most complex commercial and operational challenges. The Specialist will support in exploring and creating compelling visualizations of new datasets, identifying key features and engineering new ones to be used in modeling, assisting with JetBlue’s continuous integration (CI)/continuous delivery (CD), FinOps and ML Ops processes, and assisting with the research for modeling approaches that deliver the best results based on appropriate evaluation metrics. The Specialist reports to the Manager, AI and ML.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other Data Scientists and AI/ML Engineers to support machine learning or other projects
- Support the development of data products through exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and model building
- Effectively communicate experiments, models and analytics outputs with the Data Science Team
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- One (1) year of professional experience
- Some experience with Python, Structured Query Language (SQL), git and common data science and machine learning libraries
- Some experience building machine learning models
- Some experience writing production quality code and being familiar with software engineering best practices, including testing and version control
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Experience applying various data science techniques such as: Forecasting, Recommendation Systems, A/B Testing, Logistics Optimization, Churn Analysis, Segmentation Analysis, and Deep Learning
- Experience using Databricks, PySpark / Spark, Snowflake, dbt, Azure Cloud

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position starts at $20.00 per hour.
