Position Summary:

The Supervisor Heavy Maintenance Planning reports to the Manager Heavy Maintenance Forecasting in the JetBlue Technical Operations Department.  The position oversees work package building and the Predock process for the Heavy Maintenance Planning team, ensuring compliant task assignments in line with the contracted Predock process, seamless transition of aircraft in and out of the operation, and efficient communication of workload changes to all interested parties within JetBlue and the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business partners.  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV) Planners building work packages and holding the Predock to ensure work packages are published in line with Predock deliverables, changes to bids are identified, and all parties are prepared for the check in advance of aircraft arrival
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for questions relating to HMV Planning process and procedure related to work assignments and Trax system functionality
  • Oversee the maintenance of Predock and Work Package Build-related Internal Operating Procedures
  • Maintain the short-term Heavy Maintenance Schedule
  • Make recommendations for schedule input adjustment to improve schedule reliability
  • Assist in forecasting future HMV resource requirements by evaluating check workload and providing recommendations for schedule optimization and workload efficiency
  • Assist in the capture, trend, analysis and report of HMV metrics, including HMV yield, manpower, ground time, and non-routine workload to mitigate delays on the HMV lines
  • Assist in new work quotation process and determine prototype aircraft
  • Interface with Line Maintenance Planning, Materials, Engineering, and System Operations teams to promote scheduling efficiency
  • Oversee the Weekly Schedule Review meeting
  • Coordinate Pre-Induction review meetings with Maintenance Planning, Material Operations, Quality Control, Engineering, and MROs
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Four (4) years of combined relevant work experience in Aircraft Maintenance Planning, a position requiring an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate, and/or in an aviation-related engineering discipline
  • One (1) year of leadership experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Aircraft Maintenance Programs/Maintenance Program Documents (AMPs/MPDs), Airworthy Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs)
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Aviation Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Valid Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
  • Ten (10) years of combined relevant work experience in any one of the following: 
    • Aircraft Maintenance Planning, a position requiring an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate, and/or in an aviation-related engineering discipline
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience
  • Proficiency in TRAX
  • Project Management experience particularly dealing with aircraft modifications, efficiency studies and cost deliverable projects

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position starts at $85,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
