Position Title: Specialist Fuel & Market Risk


Position Summary

The Fuel & Market Risk Specialist is designed to give a candidate an experiential glimpse at the day-to-day work involved with various aspects of JetBlue's physical fuel procurement and management. The Fuel & Market Risk team oversees one of JetBlue's largest operating expenses, ensuring efficacy, cost competitiveness, and continuous process improvement of the fuel life cycle. Additionally, the team is responsible for the design and execution of the airline's hedge programs.


Essential Responsibilities

· Actively seek to enhance, and deliver forward weekly fuel pricing forecasts to internal stakeholders and monthly consumption forecasts to our Business Partners at each JetBlue destination

· Manage the fuel invoice reconciliation process to ensure the accuracy of all fuel related expenses

· Assist in negotiation and execution annual jet fuel supply contracts for all JetBlue locations

· Actively identify, analyze and drive cost savings opportunities from the well to the wing of our aircraft

· Assist in the strategy and execution of our Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) agenda

· Collaborate with fuel service providers and the JetBlue operations teams to ensure physical fuel supply 24x7 - securing our ability to fly

· Proactively monitor the oil market and present risk mitigation strategies

· Complete project/analysis requests; regularly partner with internal and external parties

· Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

· One (1) year of Fuel, Finance, Business or related experience

· Demonstrated financial experience and/or interest

· Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite

· Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills

· Available for overnight travel (up to 10%)

· Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

· Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

· Currently enrolled or graduated from an accredited undergraduate program in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related

· Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities and projects

· Detail oriented and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment


Crewmember Expectations:

· Regular attendance and punctuality

· Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

· Able to maintain a professional appearance

· When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

· Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

· Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

· Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
