Position Summary

JetBlue is looking for a Events Specialist eager to join the fast-moving world of communications at an airline. This 12-month opportunity will allow you to gain valuable professional experience within an industry leading brand. This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Communications – Events and will be a part of and support the Corporate Communications team. The Events Specialist will partner with members of the team to advance integrated internal and external communications plans through special events. This includes providing support for inaugural festivities for new city openings and route launches; assisting with new product launch events; and working both large scale conferences and smaller format events for departments across JetBlue as needed. We’re seeking a highly collaborative Crewmember who understands how the planning, design and execution of events – and a high attention to detail – creates excellent experiences for all of our guests.

 

The ideal candidate will work on the team starting January 2023 to January 2024.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Pre-event planning: Research potential venues and activities for events; participate in site visits; coordinate details with hotels or venues; assist with ordering supplies; maintain, ship and receive event materials.
  • On-site support: Support setting up, executing, and breaking down events; liaising with venues as needed to accomplish event goals.
  • Administrative support: Track spending for the events cost center and regularly report out on budget progress.
  • Communications support: Set up and manage online event registration tools; draft and distribute communications to guests regarding event related details.
  • Promote events via internal news channels On The Fly (mobile app) and HelloJetBlue (intranet)
  • Manage event materials inventory
  • Support management of Blue Betty, our mobile brand experience vehicle
  • Provide support as needed to Manager, Corporate Communications – Events
  • Assist with smaller scale events for other departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading and speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person, via email and by phone, with high professionalism
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and manage self towards goals, while being a genuine team player
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion                                 
  • Attention to detail and exceptional customer service
  • Available for overnight travel (30%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience in an event-related or production company role, or in public relations, communications, marketing or related fields
  • Multilingual (English + Spanish or French fluency)

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))

Work Environment:

  • Normal office environment (hybrid)

Physical Effort:  

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.  (Light) 

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $17.50 and $20.00 per hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
