Position Title: Senior Tax Accountant International Finance

 

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant primarily supports and facilitates the foreign tax compliance, accounting, research and planning for all direct and indirect tax functions including, income, withholding and value-added taxes, along with the U.S. compensation and benefits tax functions. The Senior Accountant demonstrates strong tax knowledge and technology skills including, utilizing ERP systems, database applications, spreadsheet software and tax research tools. The Senior Accountant supports the Tax Manager including, assistance with supervision and review of the work of others.

Essential Responsibilities

    • Prepare and review income, value-added, withholding and various miscellaneous tax filings
    • Facilitate foreign accounting and tax compliance and the research and planning with external advisors
    • Prepare and review tax filings and remit tax payments
    • Support international BlueCity startups including, assistance with determining the related financial regulatory requirements
    • Assist with identifying and communicating changes in international financial regulatory requirements and liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with implementation of systems, establishing policies and procedures and meeting reporting requirements
    • Document FATCA compliance and preparation of Form 1042
    • Prepare and analyze tax budgets, forecasts and accruals
    • Analyze and reconcile general ledger tax accounts
    • Maintain and plan the tax calendar and meet statutory and internal due dates
    • Coordinate and respond to audits by tax authorities and internal/external financial audits
    • Lead the design, implementation and improvement of tax reporting processes
    • Maintain customer service approach to supporting or answering relevant tax inquiries from business units and liaison with external advisors
    • Maintain technical tax skills pertinent to the position
    • Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained
    • Perform research to support tax compliance and planning
    • Train and develop staff accountants
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or finance related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Three (3) years of corporate tax experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish language
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (including spreadsheet expertise)
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to utilize tax research tools (CCH preferred) and online publications
  • Proficient in accounting and documentation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree or CPA
    • Experience with ERP systems
    • International tax experience

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $56,500.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
