Position Summary

The Senior Product Owner, Inflight Entertainment will support the Product Development team by driving forward the inflight technology product vision across the entirety of the JetBlue fleet, and is directly responsible for the managing and enhancing usability (UX) of the seatback entertainment platforms through new feature development as well as overseeing the inflight Wi-Fi product, Fly-Fi®. The Senior Product Owner, Inflight Entertainment reports to the Manager Product Development and is responsible for managing and enhancing JetBlue’s long-term roadmap across customer-facing digital products onboard. In addition to a strong focus on ideating and executing on rolling out new features on JetBlue’s newest, open-source IFE platform, this Senior Product Owner will support all three inflight entertainment (IFE) platforms, two Fly-Fi® platforms, and all crewmember-facing interfaces such as the IFE control panels and crewmember iPad applications.
The Senior Product Owner will work across matrix stakeholders from Product, IT, Technical Operations (Engineering), Strategic Sourcing, Inflight, and external stakeholders from business partners such as Thales and Viasat in order to product manage and execute plans for onboard technology products. This includes ownership over product roadmaps, scoping work, defining requirements, quality control (QC)/acceptance testing, driving consensus across the organization, and leveraging customer insights to iterate and improve upon our products.

The Senior Product Owner should be a visionary in the consumer technology space, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to work collaboratively across company teams. The Senior Product Owner also has technical expertise as well as consumer-facing experience in the tech, mobile, entertainment or aviation sectors.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with departments across company to define, manage, and lead the execution of the seatback entertainment and Fly-Fi roadmaps with a focus on customer functionality and innovation
- Own and manage the Fly-Fi and IFE software releases, including the requirements definition, milestones, QC/acceptance testing, and rollout management – including effective and persistent communication with internal teams to overcome any technical integration or timeline challenges
- Effectively balance an aggressive roadmap with budgetary and time-bound constraints, finding creative methodologies to deliver on the product vision
- Liaise with internal brand/design teams and external design agencies to ensure all requirements are captured and that we are delivering on an on-brand and user-friendly native UX
- Collaborate on the ongoing development of our next generation seatback entertainment product, including personalization, contactless payment technology, automation, seatback ordering, and connected features, aligning functionality with emerging consumer-products on the ground, such as streaming platforms
- Lead the vision and integration for the next evolution of JetBlue’s loyalty program, TrueBlue, into our seatback and Fly-Fi touchpoints, working cross-functionally with Loyalty and IT to conceptualize how this program manifests inflight
- Engage with frontline crewmembers (Inflight) on product education initiatives such as guiding them on how to use new features and user interfaces
- Present and receive alignment from senior leadership on the Inflight Entertainment roadmap and budgets, articulately explaining how each workstream fits within corporate objectives and adjusting/reprioritizing projects and expenditures accordingly
- General understanding of negotiation best-practices and leverage, able to manage multiple stand-alone negotiations concurrently as well as complex commercial negotiations combining multiple business units
- Convey and create system concepts to internal and external business partners, including information pertaining to competitive research, usability and user interface design (UX/UI)
- Work with IT to ensure effective digital merchandising of our product offerings through customer-facing channels, including integrations into the JetBlue mobile app
- Proactively identify ways to innovate the Fly-Fi and entertainment experience across the JetBlue travel ribbon
- Stay cutting-edge on technology trends to be able to innovate future product needs

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Design, Product Management, Marketing, Business or related field; OR a demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of relevant work experience
- Three (3) years of product development and/or software development experience
- Experience with hardware/software development within technical field and/or aviation
- Ability to problem solve and be solution oriented in a time-constrained environment
- Available for moderate overnight travel (30%)
- Able to work flexible work hours and be available for emergency response on short notice
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Six (6) years of product development and/or software development experience
- Engineering Degree
- Ability to think big, yet be able to plot out and manage an implementation plan
- Understanding and experience with product development for a major consumer brand
- Experience with UI wire-framing in Visio, Illustrator or other applications

- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $64,000.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
