Title: Senior Manager Fleet Engineering

Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Fleet Engineering leads and oversees all ATA and other Engineering Managers and their respective teams across aircraft systems, structures, powerplant, and avionics disciplines. This position is responsible for ensuring technical excellence, Aircraft On Ground (AOG) support, regulatory compliance, and innovation within JetBlue’s Engineering organization.
As a senior leader, the Senior Manager drives multifunctional collaboration, develops strategic initiatives aligned with company goals, and ensures consistent execution of engineering programs across ATA groups. The role combines strong technical acumen with proven people leadership.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction, oversight, and leadership to all ATA Engineering Managers and their teams
- Develop and implement department goals, metrics, and roadmaps that align with JetBlue’s long-term reliability and fleet performance objectives
- Ensure engineering projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget while meeting airworthiness and regulatory requirements
- Drive standardization and harmonization of technical processes, documentation, and methods across ATA teams
- Collaborate closely with Fleet Programs, Reliability, Maintenance Planning, Flight Ops, System Operation Center (SOC) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to proactively address fleet issues and implement corrective actions
- Lead technical governance, ensuring all engineering analyses, modifications, and repairs meet internal and regulatory standards
- Oversee the substantiation, approval, and certification of repairs and modifications in collaboration with Principal Engineers and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs)
- Oversee the liaison engineering group and 24/7 coverage of repairs in collaboration with other Engineering Managers
- Champion continuous improvement through data-driven decision making and adoption of emerging technologies
- Mentor and develop Engineering Managers, building leadership capability, engagement, and accountability across the organization
- Partner with Materials Planning to ensure timely requisitioning, allocation, and replenishment of parts tied to engineering changes. Represent Engineering leadership in regulatory, industry, and cross-functional forums
- Represent Engineering leadership in regulatory, industry, and cross-functional forums
- Support safety initiatives by fostering a proactive Safety Management System (SMS) culture and ensuring compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations
- Promote JetBlue’s culture and values through inclusive, transparent, and purpose-driven leadership

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in airline engineering
- Three (3) years in a leadership capacity managing crewmembers
- Demonstrated expertise in aircraft maintenance operations across multiple ATA disciplines
- Proven record of leading cross-functional initiatives that improved reliability, safety, and operational efficiency
- Strong knowledge of Regulations, OEM technical documentation, and industry best practices
- Experience with budget planning, resource management, and program execution
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Available for overnight travel (up to 40%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Familiarity with Airbus aircraft systems and OEM processes
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Python, Power BI, SQL)
- Experience leading Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) certification programs, repair development, or major modification projects
- Exceptional leadership presence with demonstrated ability to influence and develop technical talent

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $110,000 and $170,000 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
