Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Crew Analytics is responsible for interpreting, analyzing and presenting complex crew and operational data to influence the organization with decision making, strategy formulation, process improvements, and other crew related functions. The Senior Manager, as part of the Operations Resource Planning team, will lead a team of high performing engineers and analysts to execute the Crew Analytics strategy using statistical analyses, mathematical modeling as well as other quantitative methods. The Senior Manager will liaise with leaders, engineers and analysts throughout the company specifically within Operations (Flight Ops, Inflight and System Operations), IT Data Science/Data Engineering/Database Administration, Enterprise Planning, Network Planning and Finance Departments. This role reports to the Director of Operations Resource Planning within the Enterprise Planning organization.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineers and analysts to produce innovative crew related solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets
  • Apply knowledge of statistics, computer programming, mathematical modeling, simulation, and advanced quantitative methods to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to problem solving, decision support, and process improvements
  • Drive crew data strategy by working closely with IT Data Engineering/Database Administration teams to integrate multiple data sources to single source of truth
  • Clearly present analytical findings to all levels of the organization including senior leadership
  • Assist in defining data requirements as well as applying judgment and statistical tests to guarantee data integrity
  • Coordinate efforts between numerous internal teams to ensure organizational data alignment
  • Oversee the building and maintaining of internal crew analytics dashboards using Business Intelligence tools
  • Partner with other Enterprise Planning and Operations leaders to ensure optimal crew end-to-end process implementation
  • Analyze postmortem operational performance for feedback into future planning models and execution
  • Propose, develop, and track key performance metrics for crew planning and crew resources
  • Support operational and financial efficiency projects and business cases for Flight and Inflight
  • Responsible for all aspects of project development throughout the project lifecycle including facilitating meetings and communication amongst project team members and monitoring adherence to project deadlines
  • Take a significant role in crewmember development for their career path as well as to support their growth and career goals
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Six (6) years of analytical and modeling experience
  • Three (3) years of programming experience in Python/R/SQL/SAS
  • Three (3) years of data modeling experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in the airline industry
  • Four (4) years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Two (2) years of direct managerial experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven team environment
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in airline crew data
  • Five (5) years of experience in airlines
  • Able to effectively influence others at equal and higher levels of the organization
  • Ability to work across departmental lines

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $111,400.00 and $156,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
