Position Title: Senior Analyst Route Planning

Position Summary:

JetBlue is looking for a Senior Analyst Route Planning to be based at JetBlue’s Support Center in Long Island City, NY. The Route Planning team is responsible for determining JetBlue’s growth strategy and maximizing the profitability of JetBlue’s route network. The team’s shorter term responsibilities include actively determining new routes, optimizing service levels of existing routes, and performing ad-hoc network and competitive analyses. 


Longer term responsibilities include working cross-functionally across the company to advise on major fleet and strategic growth decisions.  The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of airline route networks and strategy, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of JetBlue’s route network strategy and pursue its implementation through capacity planning
  • Extensively research potential new markets, prepare profitability forecasts, and build cases for market entry
  • Analyze JetBlue Airways performance on a route by route basis and identify areas of opportunity; monitor industry capacity changes
  • Serve as the primary owner of 1-2 Route Planning business processes
  • Serve as a primary point of contact in Route Planning for internal and external partners
  • Participate in mentoring and training new Crewmembers
  • Perform ad hoc fleet- and network-related projects in support of senior leadership
  • Build relationships with airport partners across the route network
  • Support other teams including the Airline Planning, Commercial, Finance, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations divisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in aviation, business, economics, mathematics, finance, public policy or a related field
  • Three (3) years of work experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability
  • Must pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of work experience at an airline in Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Finance
  • Experience with database querying (e.g., MS Access, SQL) and statistical packages (e.g., R, Stata)

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
