Position Title:  Senior Analyst Payroll

 

Position Summary

The Senior Analyst is responsible for providing a broad range of analytical, reporting, accounting and taxation tasks for the payroll department. The Senior Analyst reviews complex payroll, benefits and payroll tax related issues with an emphasis on analytical expertise and ensures year to date balances are in sync between third party business partners and the general ledger. The Senior Analyst ensures the integrity and reliability of payroll and payroll taxes.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports the corporation’s multi-state & global payroll tax compliance, in adherence with federal, state, and local laws, including close monitoring of expatriates/inter-country transfers
  • Performs in-depth research, analyze, and resolve complex employee tax issues, inquiries and various reporting requirements as well as address tax issues that may arise during payroll processing with high sense of urgency
  • Validates changes in Federal, State and Local tax regulations and disseminate information to payroll department
  • Stays up to date on current tax releases to ensure timely updates to SAP
  • Develops, test and document new procedures, enhancements, tax updates and modifications to support the operation and maintenance of the payroll system and accurate payroll tax treatment, including testing of tax tubs prior to being moved to production and manually calculate payroll tax withholdings
  • Maintains and ensures accurate SUI rates are in place for all states in SAP and ADP
  • Creates reports/queries to meet department and Company needs from SAP Ad Hoc reporting
  • Ensure the accuracy of Payroll System tax postings
  • Performs payroll tax general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly and on annual basis
  • Prepares postings and reconciliation for all international payrolls
  • Maintains data integrity through a process of continuous audits, pro-active issue resolution and communicate ideas that contribute to the tactical development of maintaining tax compliance
  • Performs reconciliations of the 941 tax returns and works closely with 3rd party business partner to ensure proper remittance, reporting and treatment of payroll taxes. Research tax notices as needed.
  • Requests special tax payments for international locations
  • Interprets year end Domestic & Global Relocation tax calculations processed by third party business partner and ensure accuracy and compliance with multi-state taxation methodology and coordination with any international third-party payroll agencies
  • Analyzes and manages for the forecast of the payroll tax costs for the company’s flight benefits programs
  • Coordinates with the stock administration’s team to ensure correct federal and multi-state tax withholding on equity-related compensation
  • Coordinates, participates and oversees department year-end close responsibilities including fringe benefit adjustments and W-2 audit tests, W2 balancing, file validation, and release, processing of W-2 Corrections and Reissues
  • Meets payroll related deadlines during month, quarter, and year end, regarding general ledger postings & reconciliations, reports, and taxes
  • Helps Team complete Month End activities
  • Helps identify and implement process improvements related to this position
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in Payroll, and/or Public Accounting
  • Current knowledge of Federal, State and Local payroll/income tax law
  • Experience in handling Federal and State audits and inquiries
  • Experience in 1000+ employee, US multi-state, multi-FEIN company
  • Understanding of internal controls, payroll accounting and reconciliations
  • Ability to research and depict payroll related changes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel including V-Lookup & Pivot Tables
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of payroll and related HR subject matter
  • Detail oriented in creating and automating procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience in Payroll, and/or Public Accounting
  • CPA, FPC or CPP certification
  • SAP experience
  • Excel Macros experience
  • Proficient with report writing software
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and supervise others

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $56,500.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
