Position Title: Senior Analyst Government and Airport Affairs


Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst Government and Airport Affairs will represent JetBlue supporting State and Local Government and Airport Affairs engagement in the Northeast, with a particular focus on New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. In partnership with the other Government and Airport Affairs team members, the Senior Analyst will support work to build and enhance relationships with key leaders and political officials in those states, and will advocate, track and engage on potential changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s operations, reputation or costs. The Senior Analyst will also coordinate with teams across the organization to ensure strategic and effective engagement with chambers of commerce and related groups in JetBlue Focus Cities and key states.  This Crewmember must be able to add value to support a growing and diverse Government Affairs team, work in a fast-paced environment and reflect the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with and support Government and Airport Affairs colleagues in work to build and maintain relationships with key government partners in the Northeast to differentiate JetBlue and further the airline’s objectives
  • In close coordination with colleagues from JetBlue’s Government and Airport Affairs and Infrastructure, Properties and Development teams, engage with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Massachusetts Port Authority leadership and Boards/Commissions to ensure that JetBlue maintains strong airports partnerships and rapport in the Northeast
  • Assist with government and airport affairs-related initiatives in connection with the development of Terminal 6 at JFK
  • Track legislation and regulations in the Northeast that affect JetBlue’s business and, as needed, support analysis to determine potential impact to the industry and/or JetBlue, and support direct outreach to legislators  
  • Track and engage on airport-related policy issues, including proposed changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s current or future operations
  • Work collaboratively with relevant trade associations and NGOs as well as other industry officials (consistent with all applicable antitrust rules) on public policy objectives
  • Represent JetBlue with government and airport leaders in public and private forums
  • Perform research and support the development of communications materials and strategies to message JetBlue’s state, local and community value and advocate for JetBlue’s interests among on government and airport stakeholders
  • Work with partners inside and outside JetBlue, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to support community initiatives and other strategic projects at airports across our network
  • Manage coordination with appropriate teams across the organization to ensure strategic and effective engagement with chambers of commerce and related groups in JetBlue Focus Cities
  • Assist with preparing presentations, drafting and proofreading documents, and managing routine Government Affairs requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three (3) years of experience in Government, Community or Public Affairs or related area
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (up to 20%)
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Two (3) years of experience in an airline, government or airport environment
  • Campaign, public affairs or other political experience at the state or municipal level
  • Proficient with Microsoft Teams

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Occasional need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
