Title:  Senior Analyst Fuel and Market Risk

  • Position Summary: 

    The Senior Analyst, Fuel & Market Risk is responsible for various aspects of JetBlue’s physical fuel procurement and management. The Fuel & Market Risk team oversees JetBlue’s single largest expense, ensuring efficacy, cost competitiveness, and continuous process improvement of the fuel life cycle.  Additionally, the team is responsible for the design and execution of the airlines hedge programs. 

    Essential Responsibilities: 

    • Negotiate and execute annual jet fuel supply contracts for all JetBlue locations (~$2B annual spend) – ensuring our continued competitive advantage 

    • Manage the physical fuel invoice reconciliation process to ensure the accuracy of all fuel related expenses – totaling ~25% of the airline’s overall cost structure 

    • Actively identify, analyze and drive supply, facility and logistics cost savings opportunities from the well to the wing of our aircraft 

    • Assist in the strategy and execution of our Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) agenda 

    • Collaborate with fuel service providers and the JetBlue operations teams to ensure physical fuel supply 24x7 – securing our ability to fly 

    • Actively seek to enhance, and deliver forward monthly fuel consumption forecasts to our suppliers for each JetBlue destination 

    • Balance the benefits and risks to working capital and fuel supply surety while executing the optimal physical fuel inventory management program  

    • Interact and build relationships with over 70+ fuel suppliers and service providers 

    • Deliver value by negotiating into-plane, consortia, and fueling contracts for all stations 

    • Proactively monitor the dynamic and ever changing oil market and present thought provoking price risk mitigation strategies 

    • Drive value by representing JetBlue at industry fuel consortia/committee meetings and with industry trade associations (IATA, A4A) 

    • Ensure internal audit compliance for both physical fuel and risk mitigating hedge programs 

    • Complete project/analysis requests; regularly partner with internal and external parties 

    • Other duties as assigned 

    Minimum Experience and Qualifications:  

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance or related field 

    • Three (3) years of Fuel, Finance, Supply Chain or related experience 

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills  

    • Demonstrate analytical capabilities, communication skills, and knowledge of fuel supply concepts through a work sample 

    • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize assignments  

    • Excellent written and verbal communication including ability to interact with executive leadership  

    • Available for overnight travel (10%) 

    • Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the USA 

    • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test 

    • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located  

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications: 

    • MBA and or CPA 

    • Proven ability to deliver savings and value through negotiation and financial analysis 

    • Previous airline or fuel experience  

    • Experience with Bloomberg terminal, MarketView software 

    Crewmember Expectations:  

    • Regular attendance and punctuality  

    • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice 

    • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance 

    • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
