Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of assigned journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of JetBlue’s internal and external reporting.  More specifically, this position focuses on accounting for our Technical Operations activity, with responsibilities including aircraft and engine spare parts inventory, obsolescence/depreciation of these parts, and aircraft and engine maintenance and repair expense accruals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monthly journal entries to record inventory, obsolescence and depreciation, and maintenance and repair accruals
  • Reconcile and resolve assigned balance sheet accounts (primarily spare parts inventory and accumulated depreciation) on a monthly basis
  • Reconcile SAP inventory balances with those reported in the TRAX system (the spare parts database).
  • Network with cost centers to obtain needed information for monthly close and educate Technical Operations and TRAX teams on financial relevance of their transactions
  • Run required month-end reports and queries from SAP and TRAX
  • Assist in variance analysis of assigned Balance Sheet accounts and related Profit and Loss accounts, particularly maintenance and repair costs
  • Ensure internal controls are effectively maintained for assigned tasks
  • Recommend improvements to the efficiency of accounting processes and timeliness of deliverables
  • Contribute to special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance
  • Three (3) years of accounting experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • CPA certification
  • SAP experience
  • One (1) year of experience supervising others
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented
