Position Summary

The Manager Strategy & Business Development is responsible for driving and delivering high impact projects for the CEO and the Strategy & Business Development team, in conjunction with business unit leaders.  The Manager reports to the Director of Strategy & Business Development and for the duration of each project works closely with the Executive sponsor and relevant working team.  The Manager leads cross-functional teams to unlock drivers of value to answer key strategic questions and in conjunction with key business unit leaders, formulate and communicate a strategy to maximize value capture.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategic cross-functional internal consulting projects for the company
  • Partner effectively with functional leaders to jointly deliver strategic initiatives
  • Communicate progress and plans with senior leadership
  • Conduct a broad range of quantitative and qualitative research
  • Continuously assess and stay abreast of JetBlue versus competitors
  • Research and identify applicable best practices from other airlines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop long-term strategic options for JetBlue
  • Provide thought leadership and support on critical strategic issues across the company including framing, analyzing and recommending courses of action
  • Identify and analyze potential future growth opportunities for JetBlue, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders 
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Two (2) years management consulting experience
  • Demonstrate ability to project plan for, analyze strategic issues, and communicate results through a work sample
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to assess complex situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Tenacity to pursue new, creative solutions (beyond what is already being done in the industry)
  • Strong executive presence, presentation and communication skills
  • Available for moderate overnight international and domestic travel (10%)
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • High proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Work alongside and communicate effectively with different groups and organizational levels across JetBlue
  • Ability to multi-task across a variety of projects, departments and timelines
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Previous experience in airline, hotel or railroad finance
  • Experience across multiple functions in an organization
  • Experience successfully leading and delivering large strategic efforts

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
