Manager Organizational Effectiveness (OD Focus) 


Position Summary

The Manager Organizational Effectiveness leads the Organizational Development (OD) and Change Management practice for the People team. This role manages the design, delivery and evaluation of OD services provided by the Organizational Effectiveness team. The Manager also serves as a consulting resource to executive leaders and teams throughout JetBlue to offer guidance and support with major short and long-term initiatives, especially those related to organizational design, leadership behaviors, team performance and change management. They lead a team of practitioners in a matrixed environment to support multiple business units and strategic programs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the General Manager Organizational Effectiveness to design, develop and implement an integrated Organizational Effectiveness strategy – ensuring the team is focused on the high impact programs and initiatives that support JetBlue’s corporate strategy and operational goals
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to provide thought leadership, consultation, and coaching on topics such as organizational structure, change management, leadership behaviors, team dynamics, culture and Crewmember engagement.
  • Lead the assessment, design and implementation of organizational development interventions and change management initiatives to support successful business outcomes
  • Manage the intake, prioritization and resource allocation for OD projects and services
  • Build the OD capability of others by providing practical guidance on methodology, tools, and implementation. This includes developing and maintaining toolkits and resources to enhance OE team processes and capabilities.
  • Provide direction, guidance, timely and constructive feedback to direct reports: onboarding plans, mid- and year-end performance management reviews, and ongoing feedback to support development opportunities
  • Facilitate forums, workshops, advisory boards and other team meetings across the company, as requested by internal customers regarding change management, team effectiveness, customer focused innovation, etc.
  • Identify, monitor and report key metrics to measure the impact of OE programs and services
  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Organizational Development, Change Management, Leadership Development or Human Resources Business Partner including experience in an internal or external consulting role
  • Three (3) years of experience managing projects or programs
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and delivering large-scale, cross-departmental programs and/or strategic change initiatives.
  • Expertise of organizational development and change management best practices and related theories with the demonstrated ability to translate it into practical application.
  • Strong communication, presentation/facilitation and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact at all levels in the organization
  • Strong consultative and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to conclusion at once, with minimal guidance
  • Demonstrates strong presentation and facilitation skills through completion of a work sample during the hiring process
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (25%)
  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Organizational Change, Human Resources, Business Management or related field
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience
  • Expertise in organizational development as it pertains to theories and practices of organizational design, strategic planning and change management 
  • Experience in creating, designing, teaching and/or facilitating Change Management, Organizational Development and professional development training for all levels of employees and managers
  • Certified as a development and/or executive coach
  • Working knowledge with employee engagement and HR analytics, ability to turn data into action
  • Working knowledge of design thinking and innovation best practices
  • Team orientation and demonstrated ability to work well with others and set a collaborative environment
  • Highly organized in dealing with people and executing tasks, and a proven track record of producing results

     Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
