Position Summary
The Manager, Operations Strategy, reports to the Director, Operations Strategy and Engineering and is responsible for using analytical insights to help inform overall operations strategy and deliver improved operational performance. They partner and liaise between operational and planning groups to align tactical execution with strategic objectives. The Manager enjoys interacting daily with people at different levels in the organization, influencing others without authority and is an effective leader whose personal values match JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
Essential Responsibilities
- Communicate a unified story concerning the status of our operation and underlying drivers of performance
- Conducts strategic as well as operational reliability impact analysis in support of corporate initiatives
- Investigate and determine root causes of operational events and failures
- Support strategic planning for JetBlue's operational reliability across multiple teams
- Produce briefings for Senior Leadership and Board of Directors on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievement
- Act as a key liaison between operational teams and data experts, applying a holistic view to develop and implement policies, strategies, processes, and technologies that address large-scale challenges while aligning with operational reliability and efficiency goals.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Transportation Planning or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with the combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Five (5) years of operations planning, data analysis, predictive modeling and/or decision support experience
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, SQL language, and data structure knowledge
- Proficiency in Python, R or similar high-level programming language
- Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
- Strong airline business acumen
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
- Excellent multitasking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Six (6) years of data analysis or decision support experience in aviation or aerospace industries
- Three (3) years’ experience in supervisory or managerial capacity
- Advanced degree in Operations Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Transportation
- Thorough understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to scheduled domestic and international air carrier operations
- Knowledge and/or experience with best practices throughout the airline industry

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $81,000 and $136,200 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
