Manager Legal Operations
Position Summary
The Manager Legal Operations plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic impact of the legal department. This position is responsible for implementing technology solutions, streamlining processes, managing legal budgets, overseeing vendor relationships, and supporting legal project management.
The Manager Legal Operations supports corporate governance and board-related matters. Given the highly confidential nature of this role, the individual must exercise sound judgment, discretion, and strict adherence to confidentiality.
Essential Responsibilities
Legal Department Operations
- Design, implement, and maintain cost effective processes, systems, and workflows to improve legal service delivery.
- Track, analyze, and report on key legal department metrics (key performance indicators [KPIs], operational efficiency, etc.).
- Oversee the cost-effective adoption and use of legal technology platforms (e.g., e-billing, document management systems) in a competitive and cost-effective manner.
Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain legal knowledge repositories and knowledge-sharing platforms. (Note, not responsible for content development.)
- Ensure efficient document management and version control for legal materials.
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead or support cross-functional legal projects and key strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives across departments.
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Support legal budget planning, forecasting, and tracking.
- Manage outside counsel spend, enforce billing guidelines, and oversee platforms such as Persuit.
- Negotiate and evaluate contracts with external legal service providers.
Vendor & Outside Counsel Management
- Serve as the primary liaison to outside counsel and legal vendors.
- Monitor law firm performance, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to service-level expectations.
Governance & Board Support
- Manage the board portal, including the preparation and posting of board materials.
- Provide administrative, calendaring and strategic support to the General Counsel, particularly on board and governance matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience.
- Five (5) years of experience in legal operations, corporate legal departments, or related roles.
- Strong organizational, project management and process improvement capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with legal technology tools (e.g., contract lifecycle management [CLM], e-billing, matter management, Diligent, Persuit).
- Solid financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost optimization.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- JD, MBA, or related advanced degree.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is highly desirable.
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or global corporate environments.
Crewmember Expectations:
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance.
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of aircraft.
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion.
- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System.

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)).
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls.
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities.

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
