Position Summary

The Manager Heavy Maintenance Planning reports to the Senior Manager Maintenance Planning and oversees Heavy Maintenance and Long Term Planning activities for Technical Operations and provides leadership for these areas to maintain compliance of our Maintenance Program and Maintenance Schedule. The Manager is responsible for the forecasting and scheduling of heavy maintenance and long term plans, in alignment with Technical, Commercial and Finance initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees the forecasting, scheduling and monitoring of the aircraft heavy maintenance schedule
  • Primary interface with Network and Schedule Planning on Technical Operations fleet requirements for Heavy Maintenance
  • Develops a minimum of 6-year long term demand model and maintains a 3-year schedule for heavy maintenance
  • Oversees heavy maintenance visit bid package definition, visit work package publication, and Pre-dock meetings
  • Encourages system-level innovation and interprets technology within the context of heavy maintenance and long term planning, defines capabilities and constraints and identifies how experimental data may apply to internal programs/projects
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for crewmembers
  • Provides reporting on schedule and project metrics
  • Supports budget processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Five (5) years of aviation Maintenance, Planning, Material Management, or Engineering experience
  • Four (4) years of management experience
  • Working knowledge of Part 121 Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a diverse and dynamic operational environment
  • Flexibility, agility and change management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and make critical decisions in a fast pace environment
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Management experience in airline Maintenance, Planning, or Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Business Processes or Technical-related field
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
