Title:  Manager Fleet Programs

Position Summary

The Manager of Fleet Programs is responsible for the analysis, management, and execution of fleet related strategic projects and transactions.  The role involves working collaboratively with a cross functional work groups to execute critical work streams related to these programs. This individual is responsible for leading all aspects of the project/program from start to finish including project/program definition, planning, documentation, contract management, Business Partner relationship management, product purchasing, execution, and tracking, reporting, roll out and closure. The Manager also partners with operational leads in overseeing the change management of operating procedures and implementation of revised processes. The Manager will develop best practices that can be integrated into the broader organization after initial program execution.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute fleet programs such as fleet inductions, changes to existing fleets or fleet retirements
  • Conduct analysis and present recommendations to executive leadership for aircraft programs functions
  • Lead all levels of program related governance meetings to facilitate decision making
  • Establish and manage multiple project plans, identifying critical path activities and dependences defining each project’s scope, establishing key stakeholders, and collaborating with business owners to secure funding
  • Develop best practices with working teams to optimize program execution
  • Maintain relationships with aircraft and engine manufacturers, aircraft lessors, BFE Business Partners, etc. as applicable
  • Manage and administer program related contracts
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Business, Finance, Economics, Aerospace Engineering or a related field 
  • Five (5) years of finance, program management or technical operations experience
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including interactions with executive leadership
  • Experience project managing cross functional teams to deliver results
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (15%)
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • MBA
  • PMP and/or other project management certifications
  • Five (5) years of aviation finance or fleet management experience
  • Airframe and Powerplant certification
  • Previous aviation fleet management experience (OEM, lessor or airline)
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance planning, retirement planning and records
  • Knowledge of various airline departmental operations
  • Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships, and able to foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety and/or concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
