Title:  Manager Corporate Tax

Position Summary 

The Manager's essential role is the responsibility for the U.S. income and franchise tax function including; tax compliance, accounting, forecasting, research and planning. The Manager demonstrates strong tax knowledge, communication and leadership skills, while managing the day-to-day operations of these tax functions to meet the Company's related accounting and compliance obligations and to minimize liabilities. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Review and assist with preparation of U.S. federal, state and local income/franchise tax returns  

  • Supervise, review and assist with preparation of the consolidated income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures

  • Perform research to support tax compliance, accounting and planning including, compensation and benefits tax and Form 1099 reporting

  • Review and assist with preparation of tax accruals, budgets and forecasts

  • Review analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts

  • Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained, including SOX 404 testing

  • Coordinate and manage taxing authority and internal/external financial audits

  • Recommend and implement process improvements

  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned  

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, tax or finance 

  • Five (5) years of corporate income tax experience, including in-depth knowledge of income tax accounting (ASC 740 and FIN 48) and tax compliance and research systems

  • Strong leadership and management skills

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Proficient analytical and interpretive skills

  • Detail oriented, with ability to provide clear and concise summations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Capable of working independently and in a team environment

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • CPA or Master’s degree in accounting, tax or finance

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (including spreadsheet expertise), tax compliance and research systems

  • International tax experience

  • Public accounting experience

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
