Position Title: Manager Corporate Communications (Executive Communications)

Position Summary:

Based at JetBlue’s office in New York City, the Manager Corporate Communications supports communications for JetBlue’s senior leadership team including the CEO, President & COO, CFO, and CMO – both internally and externally – and takes a lead role in planning and developing company leadership events, programs and communications. In addition, the Manager Corporate Communications supports general internal communications for major company announcements, and strategy, finance, marketing, and other corporate initiatives as needed. The Manager is a highly proactive, responsive, detail-oriented, and analytical thinker comfortable in a high-profile role and fast-paced industry. They are passionate about aviation and are skilled in quickly synthesizing complex business and industry issues and concepts into relevant and compelling communications for a variety of audiences.

 

The Manager will work both independently and directly with senior leaders and other stakeholders on a variety of topics, and will need an inquisitive mind to not only quickly develop a working understanding of the latest company and industry developments, but also understand how they affect crewmembers in diverse roles across the company. They are passionate about great writing to produce communications that align with JetBlue’s brand voice and strategy, throwing aside jargon or “corporate speak” to build a real connection with our crewmembers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage day-to-day communications needs for JetBlue’s senior leadership team including internal communications/events, presentations, speechwriting, and social media activity (both internal and external) in a 24/7 operation
  • Develop and execute editorial calendar for JetBlue leadership communications
  • Develop a keen understanding of the JetBlue voice and apply it throughout communications
  • Provide leadership communications support including managing town hall meetings, frontline crewmember engagement opportunities, and JetBlue’s leadership conferences, meetings and events
  • Support internal communications for major company announcements, initiatives, and various corporate departments as needed
  • Identify and execute integrated storytelling and content development opportunities for internal and external audiences
  • Partner with our Media Team to facilitate story placements, interviews and other external communications that spotlight JetBlue’s leaders, culture, and strategic priorities
  • Handle crisis communications, after-hours media relations and other duties as determined by the Director Corporate Communications
  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing and/or other communications related fields; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience.
  • Five (5) previous years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or government/public affairs
  • Candidates who successfully pass the interview stage must demonstrate strong written communication skills through a work sample exercise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in speechwriting and writing for senior executives
  • Project management / communication campaign experience
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail while providing exceptional customer service with little supervision
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with discretion
  • Creativity with an eye for detail and design
  • Currently in possession of a valid passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must reside in New York City and be available for occasional overnight travel (10%) 
  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred experience and Qualifications

  • Three (3) years travel industry experience with airline experience
  • Crisis communications and journalism or media relations experience

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Occasional need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and available to respond on short-notice to emerging issues in a 24/7 operation
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture – that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program [ASAP] or Safety Action Report [SAR])
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

  • Some weekend and extended hours

Physical Effort:

  • Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently (Sedentary)

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
