Position Title: Manager Continuous Improvement Onboard Experience (LSC)

Position Summary

The Manager Continuous Improvement OBEX supports the JetBlue Commercial Organization with a particular focus on Product Development. The role is responsible for day-to-day oversight of large scale, cross-functional programs that create efficiencies and process changes aimed towards: solving key structural issues, delivering on cost challenges and/or supporting programs that are strategic or otherwise critical for the Company’s success. The Manager must be effective in managing a large team and responsibilities of all Crewmembers on it. The Manager is an influential leader who is comfortable with maintaining a public profile, is skilled at building and maintaining relationships throughout the company at all levels and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute project improvement initiatives resulting in high quality deliverables which are completed consistently on schedule, resulting in quantifiable results/savings
  • Recommend solutions and translate complex concepts into simplified and understandable examples
  • Work with other members of the team to distribute workload and define project expectations
  • Manage project improvement initiatives with the larger team on a day-to-day basis, within deadlines set during scoping
  • Continually and proactively communicate updates on project statuses and issues to leadership across Commercial, Product Development, Continuous Improvement (CI) & Project Management Office (PMO), via regular communications and status reports
  • Report on progress and results to senior leadership via easily digestible presentations
  • Manage the implementation of postmortem program monitoring and track key metrics to measure success and foster continuous improvement
  • Assist with the identification and prioritization of opportunities where process redesign/improvement can significantly impact efficiency, compliance, quality, profitability, competitive position and customer satisfaction
  • Observe real-time processes and conduct time studies in the field at BlueCities or Other Airlines (OALs)
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth and goal achievement
  • Need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice based on operational and/or project needs
  • Show a passion to get the job done
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of professional experience with respect to continuous improvement
  • Experience implementing large scale projects and tracking results
  • Ability to work across all levels and influence with impact
  • Ability to supervise other Crewmembers and work collectively as a team
  • Strong presentation skills and experience working with and presenting to senior executives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite especially strong in Microsoft Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Must be a team player and work effectively cross-departmentally
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines and complete assignments accurately and timely
  • Available for overnight travel (30%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience of a large team, including direct reports
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Airline or related industry experience

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours, inclusive of weekends and irregular shifts and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

  • Computer/Electronic Tablet and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • Traditional Office and Airport Environment
  • Subject to weather and elevated noise levels within airport
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time

Physical Effort:

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. (Light)

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
