Position Summary
The Manager of Alliances & Airline Partnerships oversees the spectrum of activities that encompass JetBlue's interline and codeshare partnerships with other airlines; with a specific focus on domestic partnerships. The Manager’s core responsibilities include sourcing new agreements, negotiation of terms and contracts, technical and commercial implementation of agreements, and the ongoing maintenance of partnerships. The Manager works closely with numerous departments within the JetBlue organization (most notably Customer Support, IT, Airports, Revenue Management, Schedule Planning, and Revenue Accounting) and is responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship with airline partner(s). The Manager bridges the gap between the commercial demands of partnership agreements and the operational needs from JetBlue's Value Carrier business model.
Essential Responsibilities
- Technical Knowledge: Leverages a full understanding of the lifecycle of a Passenger Name Record (PNR) - from booking and ticketing, to voluntary and involuntary changes, check-in, and post-departure settlement - in order to optimize the structure and performance of airline partner agreements
- Strategic Planning: Facilitates internal strategic discussions on individual partnerships, and assesses and prioritizes individual opportunities in the context of the airline’s broader partnerships and commercial strategy
- Negotiation: Responsible for the negotiation and implementation of individual partnership agreements and terms seeking the best possible outcome for JetBlue
- Relationship Management: Serves as the first point-of-contact for external airline partners, and works to strengthen business relationships with partners to optimize commercial performance of partnerships
- Reporting and Analysis: Leverages sales and bookings data to perform analysis on partnership performance. Develops and gives presentations on performance and strategy to key internal stakeholders
- Processes and Procedures Liaison: Works closely with IT, Customer Support, Airports and others to develop processes and procedures for the sale and servicing of interline and codeshare itineraries. Troubleshoots and helps resolve interline/codeshare booking, ticketing, check-in and servicing problems on an ad hoc basis
- Cultural Awareness: Facilitates cultural awareness between JetBlue and its airline partners, ensuring agreements are supported by crewmembers in both organizations
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Five (5) years of business planning, airline management, or related work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Available for occasional to frequent overnight travel (30%)
- Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent travel documents with the ability to travel into and out of the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience working organizationally in a matrix-based position
- Previous alliance and airline partnership airline management experience
- Proficiency and knowledgeable of airline reservation systems and ticketing platforms (specifically as related to interline technology, such as IET, codeshare IATCI/ETCI, Teletype, EDIFACT, and PNR)
- Finance acumen, net present value analysis, moderate return on investment analysis experience
- Familiar with economic forecasting and strategic frameworks (i.e. how to structure business arguments)

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more
