Position Summary

The Instructor is responsible for providing initial and recurrent training for the Dispatch department including Dispatchers, Load Planners, Air Traffic Services and others, as required. The Instructor will work closely with the Manager System Operations Training to ensure that the training programs reflect published policies and that the best possible use of course delivery and technology is in place in all training programs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Schedule and provides classroom training for all Dispatch positions to include Dispatchers, Load Planners and others, as required
  • Assist with courseware development and other collateral duties associated with Dispatch training
  • Provide training for cadre of on-the-job-training (OJT) instructors
  • Coordinate with other College of System Operations (COS) instructors in an effort to develop standard, quality curricula relevant to ever changing operational requirements
  • Assist with providing OJT instruction
  • Maintain Dispatch Crewmember qualification and currency
  • Design course objectives and curricula structure in coordination with content specialists and/or other JetBlue University Colleges
  • Conduct audits to ensure curricula content is thorough, relevant, accurate, and current
  • Facilitate classroom and on the job training (OJT)
  • Works in all qualified roles with the System Operations Center
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Valid FAA Aircraft Dispatch Certificate
  • Two (2) years operational experience as an Aircraft Dispatcher in Part 121
  • Successful completion of JetBlue’s Dispatch training and maintain currency
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 121 and AQP methodology
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Available for occasional night travel (20%)
  • Travel is required on an as needed basis to conduct training
  • Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • JetBlue Dispatch experience
  • Three (3) years of Leadership Experience
  • Previous teaching, instructing, or training experience
  • Excellent coaching skills and the ability to motivate and mentor students
  • Experience with Flight Planning and Flight Following software, such as (but not limited to) Sabre tools including Flight Plan Manager, Movement Control (Plot), and Flight Explorer
  • Possess strong knowledge of Dispatch subjects, Air Traffic Control, Comply 365 (Manual & Manual Supplements)
  • Understanding of FAR Part 65

  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
