Position Summary  

We are seeking a General Manager to join our expanding IT & Technology Infrastructure Team. As a General Manager, you will act as a liaison between Airport Technology deployment (e.g., new routes and operations support), Infrastructure teams (Cloud, hybrid & on-prem.), IT, crewmember technology services, and other business partners. You will oversee a wonderful team of project managers and play a key role in advancing IT, Infrastructure teams strategic, operations projects, and Collaborate with larger organization within the company.  

You will strongly advocate for the team and understand that the Infrastructure team is only one part of the larger development cycle. Your relationship with Product, Engineering, and other program organizations will be the key to your team’s success. 

The General Manager works with established priorities and focus to meet business demands, excels when working on complex programs, is motivated to deliver results, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun, and Passion. Incumbent would be an inspirational leader who attracts and retains talent, creates high levels of energy and motivation throughout challenges and obstacles (brings in new talent and proactively manages low performing talent) 

Essential Responsibilities  

  • Lead a team (10-12 direct & indirect) of highly motivated technical project managers, while being detail-oriented and hands-on; Team members might be across airports, support centers and remote 

  • Actively coach and mentor team members in agile practices, and support their career development; Lead by example and build trust  

  • Promote a healthy work-life balance and put the wellness of the team first  

  • Manage the activities of large or strategically important technical programs and be an active advisor for multiple teams 

  • Identify and implement cross-functional solutions that will drive operational scale while maintaining creative excellence; Define operational workflows and manage the change required to move to a new workflow or operational model  

  • Be a strong collaborator between partner teams such as Airport teams, Product & Engineering teams to ensure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively  

  • Be the voice for your team and balancing the needs of your team, our users, and leadership  

  • Develop and improve the program management and planning processes for effective throughput across teams & broader work streams  

  • Provide clear communication to cross-functional team leads regarding Program needs, resource requirements, issues, and priorities  

  • Identify risks, prioritize and collaborate with partners to resolve in a timely manner  

  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement 

  • Other duties as assigned  


Minimum Experience and Qualifications   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline 

  • Six (6) years’ of technical experience 

  • Three (3) years’ of management experience  

  • Master knowledge and experience with the software development life cycle 

  • Master with project management tools, including Confluence, JIRA, Smartsheets  

  • Ability to work with a distributed team, facilitating tight communications in spite of time zone differences  

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and ability to distill necessary information to cross-functional partners and drive adoption of new workflows  

  • Available for overnight travel (10%) 

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test  

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located  

  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, and goal achievement   


Preferred Experience and Qualifications  

  • Experience and passion working with complex software applications  

  • Loves Travel industry & serving customers   

  • Enthusiasm for delivering a quality products for our customers throughout their journey from booking flights to airport experiences 

  • PMP, Scrum Master or Agile Certification  

  • Experience in leading large scale technology infrastructure projects for multiple facilities  

  • Experience developing and coaching teams towards shared common goals, collaborating with multiple stakeholder teams, and leading through influence, all while demonstrating strong judgment in the face of ambiguity  

  • A deep-rooted passion for process excellence and operating at scale  

  • Ability to multitask, analyze opportunities, define successful approaches, and tackle problems 


Crewmember Expectations:   

  • Regular attendance and punctuality   

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice  

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance  

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft  

  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun  

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System 

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards 

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))  

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls   

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
