Position Summary:

The Engineering Support Specialist is a temporary role lasting for 3 months and it provides support to JetBlue’s engineering teams in their day-to-day roles. The specialist role involves ensuring aircraft safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulations, whilst supporting the assigned team with short and long term projects. They work closely with and support other engineers, technicians, and specialists to develop the reliability of the JetBlue fleet.

 

There are four vacancies for the Specialist role – three in our Long Island City Support Centre (LSC) and one in our Orlando Support Centre (OSC).

Essential Responsibilities:

· Technical Writing – Ability to understand, and then generate, clear and efficient work instructions, reports and communications

· Support peers in the development of predictive digital diagnostics and monitoring strategies that will improve overall operational reliability

· Analyze and record component failures with a view to improving airworthiness, time on wing, and reducing financial costs

· Support the design, development, and testing (physically or desktop based) solutions for aircraft systems

· Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure aircraft safety, performance, and efficiency

· Create and review technical engineering documentation

· Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and specialists to optimize aircraft performance

· Support feasibility studies and cost analyses for aircraft projects

· Support monitoring and maintenance of aircraft systems to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards

· Assist with providing technical support and troubleshooting for aircraft systems requirements

· Promote JetBlue as a force for good through STEM activities, business initiatives and community engagement

· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

· Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

· Awareness of JetBlue, the fleet, and where we operate

· Technical writing – an ability to understand and generate clear and concise instructions and reports

· An ability to interpret sophisticated and technical engineering documents

· Computer literate in Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Project

· Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as python, Excel, and SQL

· Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills

· Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner

· Has demonstrated strong analytical abilities in technical study

· Able to read, write, and speak English fluently

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment

· Able to manage and coordinate several tasks and projects simultaneously

· Available for overnight travel (maximum 20%)

· Pass a pre-employment drug test

· Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

· Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

· Basic knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification and maintenance

· Understanding of general ATA Chapters which could encompass aircraft systems, structures, power plant, and avionics fields

· Familiarity with JetBlue Engineering Business Partners and their fields of expertise

· Working knowledge with Microsoft Office power apps

· Possess reliability analysis skills to identify root cause of problems

· Project management skills

Crewmember Expectations:

· Regular attendance and punctuality

· Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

· Able to maintain a professional appearance

· When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

· Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

· Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

· Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

· Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

· The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

· Work may be outdoors with seasonal weather

Physical Effort:

· Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. (Light)

Compensation:

· The base pay range for this position is $20.00 an hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
