Position Title: Engineer Operations

Position Summary

The Engineer assists in the design, development, implementation and use of systems and data to ensure safe, legal and efficient operations of JetBlue aircraft in the areas of aircraft performance, weight and balance, flight planning, route analysis and fuel performance. The Senior Engineer provides support to Flight Operations and System Operations as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains engine-out airport departure procedures in cooperation with Flight Operations
  • Analyzes airport runway and obstacle data to determine impact on aircraft performance
  • Works with governmental entities and business partners to maintain airport runway and obstacle database
  • Identifies negative trends in aircraft performance and develops corrective actions
  • Works with Technical Operations to determine weight and center-of-gravity impact of Engineering Changes
  • Determines aircraft basic empty and operating weights and centers-of-gravity after aircraft have been weighed
  • Maintains and uses aircraft weight and balance database
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience 
  • Three (3) years aviation experience in the areas of Operations Engineering, Technical Operations Engineering, Flight Operations Engineering, or System Operations Engineering
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) governing aircraft operations (Part 25 and Part 121)
  • Experience in software development/maintenance

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $75,000 and $118,400 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
