Engineer IT Quality CoE Automation 


Position Summary

The IT CoE Automation Engineer designs, develops and executes automated scripts for our internal and external systems in accordance with the JetBlue Automation Framework and Software Development Methodology. The Engineer is primarily responsible for creating automated test scripts using tools like HP-Unified Functional Testing, executing these tests and communicating the results.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Functional QA leads, Automation Lead and development on the design and development of automated test scripts in accordance with defined requirements or test scenarios
  • Develop automation test scripts within our JetBlue Automation Framework for internal and external applications. The applications consist of a wide variety of technologies such as Java, PowerBuilder, Web, .Net, Tibco, Mobile, and Windows client.
  • Use QC/ALM to track Requirements, test cases, scenarios, defects, and maintain execution results for any reporting that is necessary.
  • Develop any data sets, utilities, functions, or helper scripts needed to support testing
  • Assist Functional QA leads and Automation leads in any other ad hoc work to support automation based projects
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related
  • Four (4) years’ experience  in IT
  • Two (2) years’ experience in Software development or Two (2) years of Automation Testing Experience
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication
  • Strong knowledge of defect tracking or test management tools such as QC/ALM or something similar
  • Strong knowledge of an automation tool such as QTP/UFT or similar
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and QA methodologies
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with version control software
  • Experience in Office, including Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and Visio
  • Knowledge of testing various technologies such as but not limited to Windows Client, Web, Web Services, Java, .Net, and Mobile
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate and escalate issues and risks as necessary
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Positive, upbeat energy and strong team player
  • Excellent customer service and an understanding of how IT is ultimately delivered to the Customer

  • Potential need to work flexible hours (could include holidays, evenings and weekends) and be available to respond on short-notice
