Position Summary:

The Director supports the development and execution of JetBlue’s technology strategy, ensuring day-to-day reliability, scalability, security, and modernization of the company’s on-premise, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure. This leader drives transformation through automation, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native services while aligning technology capabilities with JetBlue’s business objectives.

 

The Director is responsible for designing, managing, and evolving JetBlue’s enterprise infrastructure, workplace technologies, and integration capabilities that support operational excellence and superior Crewmember and Customer experiences. This includes close collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Development, Data, and Cybersecurity teams to build resilient, flexible, and secure systems that underpin JetBlue’s digital ambitions.

 

This is a hands-on, high-energy leadership role requiring a balance of technical expertise, strategic vision, vendor management, and the ability to deliver measurable outcomes. The Director fosters a culture of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement while embodying JetBlue’s core values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the modernization and automation of infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to improve scalability, consistency, and deployment velocity
  • Oversee the design and operations of JetBlue’s cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments to support business agility and innovation
  • Define and implement SLA- and KPI-based operational frameworks, ensuring performance and reliability are measurable and continuously improved
  • Support the evolution of digital workplace technology, enhancing productivity and collaboration for Crewmembers through modern tools and integrated platforms
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and Legal to negotiate technology contracts, manage vendor relationships, and optimize total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Establish governance and metrics for service delivery, availability, and performance across internal and external service providers
  • Foster a customer-focused culture within infrastructure teams, emphasizing partnership, responsiveness, and reliability in support of other technology and business units
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, standardization, and automation to increase the effectiveness of JetBlue’s infrastructure services as a technology provider
  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to integrate secure-by-design practices, ensuring infrastructure resilience and regulatory alignment
  • Champion the use of automation and self-service to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Enable observability and proactive issue resolution by leveraging AI-driven monitoring and analytics tools
  • Provide strategic input into the long-term cloud migration and optimization roadmap, balancing innovation with operational stability
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering technical growth, innovation, and succession readiness
  • Partner cross-functionally with enterprise architects, business unit leaders, and program management teams to prioritize and deliver key initiatives
  • Serve as a thought leader on technology modernization trends, helping guide JetBlue’s overall digital transformation journey
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Seven (7) years of leadership experience
  • Seven (7) years of experience delivering large scale projects; Technology projects
  • Knowledge of desktop software, infrastructure support, type wiring, networks, server type applications and tools for software; preferred
  • Knowledge of Technology Infrastructure, including service desks, network, desktop support, Technology security, data center, and voice network; preferred
  • Knowledge in business partner management preferred experience with Verizon.
  • Available for frequent overnight travel (up to 50%)

  • Leading a customer-focused area of the Technology department 
  • Managing in an operations environment
  • Managing Service Level Agreements
  • Demonstrating strong Business Partner negotiation and resolution skills
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship 

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of leadership experience
  • Ten (10) years of experience delivering large scale projects, preferably technology projects

 

Crewmember Expectations: 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours, inclusive of weekends and irregular shifts and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Cybersecurity, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $160,000.00 and $250,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more
