Position Summary

The Director Talent Management partners with the Head of Talent & Crewmember Experience, People leadership and leadership across JetBlue to develop and execute the JetBlue’s talent management strategy. The Director is responsible for overseeing all talent management initiatives including performance management, succession planning, emerging talent programs (our JET programs), career pathing and talent mobility to achieve business goals and create an internal bench of top talent. The Director is also responsible for supporting the advancement and development of the JetBlue Scholars program and the established academic relationships.

 

The Director Talent Management is a key member of the People team and is passionate about developing and maintaining ongoing relationships at different levels within the organization. The Director also enjoys working cross-functionally, coaching and influencing others and is an effective leader whose personal values match JetBlue’s Values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of Talent & Crewmember Experience to develop and oversee the strategic direction and initiatives of the Talent Management team in support of the company objectives.
  • Build strong relationships across departments and levels to create buy-in for talent smanagement strategies.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, People Data Insights, Organizational Effectiveness, Crew and Values Relations, Compliance and other people leaders to develop and execute an ongoing integrated Talent strategy.
  • Support relationships with academic Business Partners, universities and schools to identify and develop initiatives and strategies that advance formal education for our Crewmembers
  • Support the processes and procedures for enrollment and graduation of JetBlue Scholars
  • Maintain database of talent information, coordinate with leadership team, participate in succession planning and key talent review meetings, and oversee strategies to accelerate development of key talent and successor candidates
  • Partner with OE and CRs to ensure high-potential development programs align with long-range business strategies/plans
  • Partner with the Diversity & Inclusion team, Talent Acquisition and Crew Relations to develop and implement strategy which ensures a diverse talent pipeline that supports business objectives
  • Develop and drive all aspects of the talent management strategy to include Performance Management, Succession Management, goal setting, internal talent sourcing, career pathing and navigation.
  • Oversee implementation and management of talent management systems and tools
  • Continuously identify skill gaps across the organization and partner with Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition and Crew Relations to establish a strategy to close the gaps, either through talent sourcing or talent development
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to create a talent branding and communication strategy to ensure the effective rollout of company-wide talent management programs
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Crew Relations and senior leadership to facilitate placement of internal top talent
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organization Development or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in the Organizational Development, Psychology, Human Capital Consulting, Talent Management and/or broad Human Resources or related field
  • Five (5) years’ leadership experience
  • Five (5) years’ experience leading or facilitating large groups
  • Working knowledge of the following Talent Management practices, including performance management and career pathing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Outlook and Microsoft Office
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organization Development or a related field
  • PHR or SPHR certification
  • Succession planning experience

 

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
