Position Summary

The Director Investor Relations is a critical and strategic role at JetBlue and requires an articulate and analytical professional who will lead the Company forward with strong and well-reasoned advice as well as provide overall direction for the Company's relationship with its owners and prospective owners.

 

The Director, Investor Relations will report directly to the Head of Finance and Treasury and will provide the leadership, vision, and execution of the Company's investor relations plan to ensure consistent, accurate information is provided on a timely basis to investors and analysts and the Company’s leadership team is informed and educated on these key stakeholders’ perspectives.  The Director will partner regularly with senior management (CEO, CFO, The Senior Leadership Team and others), legal counsel, financial planning and analysis, treasury, accounting and the corporate communications teams to articulate the Company’s strategic direction and financial position, while overseeing and directing all aspects of investor relations policies and initiatives.

 

The Director is an influential leader who is comfortable with maintaining a public profile and public speaking and is skilled at building and maintaining relationships at all levels. The Director will hold primary accountability for high-profile projects, is able to change priorities and focus to meet business demands, can perform well under stress and time constraints, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and pertinent information about the investment community's perspective on the Company to senior leadership; serve as an internal consultant to senior leadership advising on competitive industry information.  Be the “Voice of the Investor” during regularly scheduled reviews with the leadership team of the Company’s results and the competitive landscape
  • Effectively communicate JetBlue’s financial position and strategy to analysts (on both the buy- and sell-side) by establishing and managing external relationships with analysts, including coordination of requests for in-person and telephonic meetings between investment analysts and senior management as necessary
  • Draft financial press releases and work with the Corporate Communications department to ensure coordination and development of messaging and messaging tools for various events; including review of press releases to assure consistent messaging
  • Help Finance be a strategic partner with the Company by building educational awareness internally of financial goals and issues
  • Interface with corporate counsel on securities regulations and corporate governance issues
  • Ensure JetBlue’s compliance with its public disclosure obligations in a timely manner.  Manage the Investor Relations portions for JetBlue’s Annual Report, including the Letter to Shareholders. Be responsible for the IR section of JetBlue’s website and the contents of materials to be sent to investors to ensure they are accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with JetBlue policies and procedures
  • Define the strategy and manage the preparation of quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, meetings and roadshows, to include drafting of Company presentations, earnings releases, earnings call scripts, investor updates, Q&A’s and preparing talking points for senior leadership
  • Generate relevant periodic reports on ownership changes and key investor activity for senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Coordinate and manage Company-hosted financial events, including the annual shareholder meeting, investor day, site visits, etc.
  • Collaborate with other business areas in improving communication and teamwork to drive efficiencies and ensure consistent messaging
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement, and development of the succession plan for the department
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in a finance and/or analytical field
  • Three (3) years’ leadership experience
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including interactions with executive leadership
  • Financial analysis skills, including ability to conduct ROIC, NPV and ROE analyses
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related degree
  • Experience in airline, hotel or railroad finance
  • Investor relations and/or Wall Street experience

 

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $180,000 and $220,000 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
