Position Summary
The System Controller is responsible for the operational integrity of the schedule system wide. The Controller coordinates the resources within the System Operations Center as well as other cross departmental resources to take a proactive approach to managing and developing the operating plans to maintain schedule integrity during system disruptions.
Essential Responsibilities
- Proactively plan and execute the daily and future schedule to achieve established performance goals
- Make aircraft swaps for operational integrity and scheduled/planned maintenance purposes as needed
- Ensure optimal routing of aircraft for operational/performance restrictions
- Anticipate where disruptions may occur and work to reduce or eliminate delays imposed on JetBlue flights
- Develop a recovery strategy in collaboration with Airports and the Salt Lake City Support Center as part of an overall tactical system operating plan
- Communicate significant irregularities to company leadership system wide
- Build Flight Disruptions and Ad Hoc flights utilizing Sabre Movement Control
- Monitor and communicate Tarmac Delays
- Monitor Crew Duty/Must Off Time limitations and coordinate with Crew Services
- Lead/delegate responsibilities within POD environment and as part of the Fleet Integrity team (FIT)
- Host conference calls and/or attend meetings with JetBlue leadership as needed
- Build the day utilizing Sabre Schedule Manager and cross reference maintenance assignments and aircraft spares
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- Five (5) years of airline experience or military equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization and management skills
- Ability tto work flexible work schedule to cover the operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Currently in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or a related field
- Valid FAA Aircraft Dispatch, A&P, Air Traffic Control Tower Operator or Pilot certificate
- Two (2) years in a Leadership role including, BlueCity Operations Center Controller, Supervisor or equivalent
- Two (2) years experience in the System Operations environment
- Application knowledge in: Sabre Flight Control Suite/Flight Management Suite, GE Ops Solver
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized and focused with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Possess strong technical knowledge of aircraft performance, navigation, weather and Federal Aviation Regulations

- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
- Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Upholding JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
