Position Summary:

The Business Analyst Crewmember Technology plays a pivotal role in supporting Technology projects that enhance and maintain JetBlue’s airline reservations platform, call center systems, and workforce management tools. This role collaborates closely with Project Managers and Program Managers to drive the successful planning and execution of Technology projects by developing key project documentation such as business and functional requirements and user stories and ensuring alignment with business objectives. The Business Analyst is actively involved throughout the project lifecycle, with a strong focus on requirements gathering and analysis to deliver high-quality solutions that support JetBlue’s customer-facing operations.

 

In some cases, the Business Analyst may take the lead on smaller, well-defined projects or assist Technology Managers with project initiation activities. Working under the guidance of a Program Manager or Project Manager, the Business Analyst ensures that all project deliverables meet quality standards and business needs.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Documentation: Develop comprehensive scoping and design documents to guide technical teams.
  • Requirements Gathering: Lead the elicitation of detailed and actionable business requirements and user stories through various methodologies such as interviews, workshops, document reviews, and process analysis.
  • Critical Analysis: Assess information from multiple sources, identify gaps or conflicting data, and ensure a coherent understanding of project needs. Distill complex details into clear, actionable requirements that address the true needs of the business.
  • Strategic Advisory: Challenge business assumptions to ensure sound execution of strategies and plans. Act as a key advisor to business units in aligning their goals with Technology capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, architects, and subject matter experts to translate business needs into technical solutions, balancing usability and performance considerations.
  • Business Case Development: Assist in building business cases that factor in financial, resource, and technological constraints, while assessing risks and developing cost estimates.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage proactively with both internal and external customers to understand their needs, providing clarity on functional and technical requirements, including system architecture, security, and business continuity aspects.
  • Solution Design Documentation: Produce detailed and precise project documentation, including project scopes and technical specifications, to support solution development by technical specialists.
  • Support Operations: Offer guidance and support for lower-tier systems and applications that contribute to commercial operations, ensuring smooth functioning.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as required to support the Technology Commercial Technology team and ensure project success.

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) Diploma and four (4) years’ experience supporting projects with business user and Technology components
  • One (1) year of experience supporting projects with business user and Technology components
  • Demonstrated analytical experience required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application, operational, and system requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word and Visio
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to review, consolidate, communicate and reverse-engineer complex technical and systems documentation
  • Experience in statistical and other quantitative and qualitative analytical methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal and demonstrated facilitation skills including the ability to motivate and influence others, and able to foster and contribute to a positive, upbeat team environment
  • Strong customer service ethic and an understanding of how Technology is ultimately delivered to the customer
  • High tolerance for working in a dynamic and shifting environment and able to readily embrace and participate in change initiatives
  • Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in the commercial aviation industries with exposure to supporting Technology systems and technologies
  • Working knowledge of industry standards in project management and development methodologies (Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Agile Methods, Rational Unified Process (RUP), User Stories, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of risk management and quality assurance standards and methodologies
  • Basic project management skills and knowledge of Project Management Life Cycle
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)

 

Crewmember Expectations: 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $68,000.00 and $112,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more
