Position Title: Analyst Safety Data

Position Summary

The Analyst supports JetBlue Airways’ Office of Safety by recording, managing, and analyzing event and assessment safety data.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conducts analyses on safety events and audit data
  • Support departmental efforts to develop and maintain critical safety metrics across a broad range of safety and compliance domains
  • Integrates information from other operating areas using Business Intelligence platform
  • Build and maintain new data sources and data streams in Datawarehouse
  • Conduct Safety Analytics by creating reports, dashboards, statistical analysis using BI tools
  • Play pivotal role in migration and implementation project for new SMS system
  • Works closely with department leadership and team members to identify areas of safety and security hazards in operations
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and assessment of safety performance and measure the effectiveness of safety enhancements
  • Assist in the development and implementation of technological solutions for the collection, analysis, reporting, and integration of safety, security, and compliance data
  • Manages (monitors, updates, maintains, develops) the Safety event management, analysis and distribution system as necessary
  • Ensure adherence to all Safety and Security regulations
  • Performs ad hoc data requests in a timely manner
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation or aviation safety, statistics, data science, or other related field, or High School Diploma and currently enrolled in an accredited college on track to obtain a Bachelors Degree in a relevant field
  • One (1) year coursework or relevant industry experience in statistics or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with relational database management and programming concepts
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and understand new software in detail
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent to travel in and out of the United States
  • Working knowledge of regulations governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental and employee health and safety
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • One (1) year working experience at an airline, airport, or other aviation-related organization
  • In depth understanding of Safety data and processes
  • Proficiency with Aviation Quality Database (AQD) or any SMS
  • Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL) programming
  • Experience implementation/migration of systems
  • Basic troubleshooting and system administration
  • Experience or in depth understanding of Data warehousing, Business Intelligence concepts
  • Familiarity with data mining software
  • Working knowledge or strong understanding of statistical concepts and tools such as R, Python etc
  • Experience with content management systems such as SharePoint Some technical writing experience
  • Ability to work effectively with professionals from diverse technical areas
  • Possess strong team building interpersonal skills

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
