Position Title: Analyst Labor Relations


    Position Summary

The Labor Relations Analyst provides support with the collective bargaining process and related reports, grievance tracking and reporting, and planning/executing team projects; research necessary for all stages of the dispute resolution processes; and research of airline industry trends and OAL collective bargaining agreement (CBA) data.


The Analyst is an effective communicator and enjoys interacting with people at different levels within the organization and demonstrating empathy towards others. The Analyst is comfortable working in a non-routine environment, is a self-starter, demonstrates initiative in position duties, and can deliver challenging messages if necessary. The Analyst demonstrates solid time, prioritization, and project management skills, and is a resilient individual whose personal values match JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun. 


Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist and support Senior Labor Analysts with:
    • Providing research to process and/or resolve grievances
    • Tracking of union grievances and developing/maintaining grievance tracking reports
    • Research for implementation and/or administration of CBAs
    • Research for grievance mediation and arbitration
  • Be the subject matter expert on OAL CBA data and airline industry trends and create executive summaries and OAL comparisons distilling data
  • Support JetBlue negotiating teams with research and data to prepare collective bargaining proposals
  • Draft communications to leadership updating on grievance and collective bargaining processes
  • Work with Labor Relations team to create business cases and strategy proposals via PowerPoint presentations
  • Partner with department leaders (e.g. Crew Relations, Compensation and Benefits) as necessary to process/research grievances and to manage cross-functional projects
  • Serve as a resource of the People department on behalf of the Labor Relations team when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One (1) year of analytical or related experience (e.g., crew scheduling or data analysis)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Outlook and Microsoft Office
  • Significant experience working with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy
  • Attention to detail in composing and creating reports
  • Available for moderate overnight travel (up to 20%)
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for an emergency response on short notice
  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Conflict Resolution, Employee Relations or related field
  • Project management experience
  • One (1) year JetBlue Operational Experience
  • One (1) year of labor relations or human resources experience
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Adding value while serving on cross-functional teams
  • Experience presenting to large audiences, including senior leadership
  • Demonstrate organizational knowledge



Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)
