Position Summary

The Engineering Cost & Operations Analyst engages in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support the Engineering  team through cost savings projects and operational metrics to improve business efficiency and execution.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, and presents data to support repair cost savings opportunities
  • Supports Technical Ops Engineering with cost savings projects and initiatives.
  • Support Fleet Management to help mitigate technical impacts & cost from fleet evolution such as component obsolescence, end-of-life programs, aircraft retirements, and changes on new aircraft deliveries.
  • Builds presentations showing operational and savings metrics, progress on key initiatives, and aircraft modification programs. Runs regular reports as directed by Engineering leadership.
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing to identify alternate repair channels to obtain competitive pricing, including summarized information to support sourcing of new contracts.
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing to support Parts Pooling initiatives, opportunities for proactive removals, and predictive maintenance shop visits.
  • Coordinates with JetBlue Engineering and Technical Operations management in technical reviews and business partner disputes and assist with obtaining discounts and entitlements
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One (1) year of experience in/with Aviation, Aircraft Maintenance, Maintenance Planning, Material Operations, Component and/or Engine Repair or related field
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling and database administration, including applications beyond Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Available for occasional overnight (up to 10%)
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Aviation Management
  • Two (2) years of  experience in/with Aviation, Aircraft Maintenance, Maintenance Planning, Material Operations, Component and/or Engine Repair or related field
  • Proficiency in reporting using JetBlue’s Maintenance & Engineering system (TRAX)
  • Financial modeling experience
  • General knowledge of aircraft, engines, and components
  • Familiar with aircraft technical documentation

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Work Environment:

  • Normal Work Environment
  • Occasional work in hangars, materials warehouses, and on aircraft during ground maintenance
  • Occasional to Frequent visits to repair shops

Physical Effort: 

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.  (Light)
