Position Summary

The Analyst, Dispatch Optimization supports JetBlue’s fuel and flight planning strategies by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing trends, and identifying performance risks and opportunities within Dispatch Flight Planning. This includes analysis of fuel planning, routing, weight-planning, weather impact, alternate airports, OpSpec usage, training trends, and overflight performance.

 

This data-driven role is critical to ensuring optimization initiatives are grounded in accurate, actionable insights. The ideal candidate combines a passion for aviation with strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills. They must be proficient in SQL, dashboard/report development, and confident working cross-functionally while upholding JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Query and manage large datasets, primarily in Snowflake using SQL
  • Create, maintain, and automate dashboards and reports that track dispatch-related metrics
  • Analyze daily operational data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Review cross-departmental data to surface collaborative insights
  • Apply statistical and mathematical modeling to evaluate policy and procedure impacts
  • Distinguish data insights from operational judgment, considering safety-driven decisions
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses and recommend system-level enhancements
  • Leverage industry data for benchmarking and comparative reporting and presentations
  • Prepare material to be presented to Leadership on a regular basis
  • Support process improvement and quality assurance projects
  • Maintain a respectful and collaborative tone in all communications
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or operational field (Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Aviation, etc.); OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) or similar querying language (such as Python, R or Visual Basic) and knowledge of basic coding structure; experience with Snowflake preferred
  • One (1) year of analytical experience with ability to evaluate and reconcile data
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, documentation, along with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct independent research, learn from subject-matter-experts, and present findings clearly
  • Have a positive, “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to interface well and collaboratively with crewmembers at all levels of the company—to include the most senior level of JetBlue leadership—as well as interface with the leadership of external business partners and regulatory agencies
  • Must be a self-starter who is eager to participate and contribute to JetBlue teams
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of work experience in aviation, finance, or a related analytical field
  • One (1) year of experience at an airline in Operations Planning or Finance
  • Familiarity with System Operations Center or Dispatch functions and tools

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $58,500.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
