Position Summary
The Block Time Planning team works with all of the various operating groups on projects involving block time forecasting, analytics and updates. The ideal Analyst candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of operational reliability and airline schedules, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills. The Analyst will deploy and maintain data models and reports based on information gathered from aircraft systems, flight planning systems, public airline performance datasets, FAA services and any other relevant data source. Essential Responsibilities
- Refine block time modeling methodology and update regularly so that block forecasts best reflect potential operational realities
- Identify potential improvement opportunities with operational teams to improve processes to drive more consistent B0 performance across the operational spectrum (i.e. blue sky days to irregular operations) with the goal to improve operational efficiency
- Produce and ensure accuracy of monthly reporting for various internal teams; create automated reports and dashboards with operational data
- Assist in the development of business cases in support of corporate initiatives, providing the forecasted benefits using various analytical and simulation tools
- Support strategy for JetBlue operational reliability
- Work with various operating groups to determine requirements/buffers that would set them up for reliable performance and analyze (opportunity) cost/trade-offs of those
- Contribute to ad hoc operability-related projects in support of senior leadership
- Build relationships with operational partners across the system
- Support other teams including all operational divisions, Enterprise Planning and Finance
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, economics, engineering or a related field; OR a demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
- Proficiency with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) (such as Python, R or Visual Basic)
- One (1) year of analytical experience with proven ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, reconcile and order data[AN1]
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
- Have a positive, “can-do” attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication ability
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S., M.E., or PhD) in Operations Research, Quantitative Analysis, Engineering (any), Mathematics or related field
- Two (2) years of work experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
- One (1) year of work experience at an airline in Operations Planning, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Finance
- Experience communicating with senior leadership

- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $58,500.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
