Position Summary

The Aircraft Engineering Analyst will work alongside Engineers and assist the Engineering Department to ensure the technical accuracy and reliability of aircraft mechanical systems and components. The Aircraft Engineering Analyst reports to the assigned Manager of Engineering in Technical Operations (Tech Ops).

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Tracks, updates and gathers data to help Engineering review Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Airworthiness Directives for applicability and system reliability and/or economic benefits
  • Performs reliability analysis for aircraft components and issues reports
  • Assists the Engineering Department in managing aircraft changes and control of the aircraft configuration
  • Assists in the development of technical data required for modifications/repairs of aircraft systems and components
  • Supports Engineering Department in obtaining approval for modifications/repairs performed on JetBlue aircraft systems and components
  • Supports Engineering Department in the development of customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing, and other maintenance actions which are not adequately addressed in existing manuals
  • Supports Engineering Department in preparing engineering documents, such as Engineering Orders and Engineering Authorizations, to provide technical dispositions for repairs, modifications, inspection or other maintenance actions on aircraft systems and components, which provide benefits in accordance with airline and departmental objectives
  • Supports Engineering Department in responding to Reliability Alerts, Investigations, and prepares Project Presentations
  • Assists on all administrative tasks to action Airworthiness Directives so as to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related field; OR a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe Technician Certificate or FAA Powerplant Technician Certificate
  • One (1) year of experience or one (1) year of academic coursework in related field
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong interest in aviation with commitment to grow their aircraft knowledge
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend maintenance manuals and technical publications
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Certifications and/or experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma
  • Basic understanding of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents including Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), etc.
  • Basic understanding of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and the disposition of engineering documents
  • Experience with the following: Aging Aircraft Programs, Reliability/Continuing Analysis Surveillance System (CASS), basic troubleshooting and Maintenance Programs
  • Basic understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) pertaining to 121 Air Carrier operations
  • Basic understanding of maintenance & engineering database programs i.e., TRAX

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls 
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

  • Occasional work in hangars, materials warehouses, and on aircraft during ground maintenance

Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $62,400.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
