Position Summary

The Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of assigned journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of JetBlue’s internal and external reporting.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monthly journal entries to record, as determined by assigned accounts
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis; resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Network with cost centers to obtain needed information for monthly close
  • Assist in variance analysis of assigned Balance Sheet accounts and related Profit and Loss accounts
  • Ensure internal controls are effectively maintained for assigned tasks
  • Recommend improvements to the efficiency of accounting processes and timeliness of deliverables
  • Contribute to special projects
  • All other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • One (1) year of accounting experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • SAP experience
  • CPA or CPA eligible

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
