Title:  Accountant Staff

The Staff Accountant assists in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of JetBlue’s internal and external reporting by recording and reconciling assigned financial activity, specifically for ancillary revenue streams. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accounting of ancillary revenue streams
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Create, process and send invoices
  • Conduct accounts receivable collections and clearing
  • Compose accounting procedures and memos
  • Provide monthly financial results for specific revenue streams to various Business Areas
  • Analyze and explain actuals vs. forecast/budget discrepancies to respective Business Areas
  • Analyze, organize and present financial data in a swift and accurate manner
  • Support Manager and Senior Accountant on special projects as needed
  • Support internal and external audits as needed
  • Interface with internal and external customers, including crewmembers, independent auditors, and business partners
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • One (1) year of full-time Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel knowledge
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Public Accounting and/or Large Private/Public Company experience
  • Familiarity with SAP or other financial systems
  • Previous Airline experience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
