Position Title: Staff Accountant Fleet Accounting
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Manager, Fleet Accounting. Responsibilities include support for all aspects of Fleet Accounting, including, journal entry and account reconciliation preparation, capitalization and depreciation preparation and analysis and impairment analysis.
Essential Responsibilities
- Preparation of journal entries related to accounting for the Aircraft Fleet (owned and leased), spare parts inventory, and related depreciation.
- Responsible for monthly account reconciliations related to the areas noted above.
- Prepare variance analysis of Balance Sheet accounts and related Profit and Loss accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of fleet related footnote and MD&A disclosures and commitments schedules for quarterly and annual SEC filings.
- Assist with quarterly impairment analysis.
- Assist with creating the budget and ongoing forecasting of depreciation expense.
- Respond to internal and external auditor requests.
- Ensure internal controls are effectively maintained for assigned tasks.
- Recommend improvements to the efficiency of the accounting process and timeliness of deliverables.
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects with minimal supervision, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
- One (1) year of accounting experience
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
- Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible
- SAP experience

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $50,000.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
