Position Summary:

The Supervisor of Materials Planning reports to the Manager of Material Planning, and is responsible for supervising the decision-making process and providing leadership for the Manager Material Planning working groups responsible for Materials Planning and Allocating material throughout the supply chain. In addition, the Supervisor reviews data about the fleet, focusing on reliability, cost and turnaround time for statistical planning models to forecast the demand and investment required to meet that demand and establish improvements for JetBlue’s Maintenance Programs and Fleet Growth. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with Chapter 6 of the General Maintenance Manual (GMM) & Code of Federal Regulations (CFR(s)) for the planning and movement control of aircraft materials, supplies and services to be used in and on the JetBlue aircraft.
  • Continual reduction of Aircraft service events due to parts not available in the right place at the right time.
  • Maintaining the materials Capital Expense (CapEx) as well as consumable and expendable Operating Expense (OpEx) budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring allocation levels align with current and projected demand models to support aircraft maintenance.
  • Ensuring that internal controls are adequate and compliant with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Supervising inventory optimization software parameters and algorithms to ensure material availability throughout the operation.
  • Taking a significant role in developing crewmembers to support their engagement, growth and goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for Crewmembers.    
  • Overseeing and controlling the activities of demand forecasting and inventory planning by producing forecast reports based on demand projections, historical inventory usage and other foreseen circumstances that may affect parts requirements.
  • Establishing, implementing and monitoring part planning guidelines for purchased material and coordinating, with the Supervisor Technical Purchasing and Supervisor Material Coordination, for distribution throughout the operation in support of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Preparing the quarterly list of parts to purchase and preparing an authorization for expenditure for new material.
  • Collecting data about the fleet, focusing on reliability, cost and turnaround time.
  • Leading breakthrough inventory projects and process improvements within Technical Supply Chain Manages materials planning models to ensure optimal warehouse inventory levels and transactions, including setting specific order quantities, aging control, interfacing with Technical Purchasing, and reviewing aircraft on the ground and urgent parts requirements.
  • Managing the station allocation of the fleet on an ongoing basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Diploma (GED)
  • Three (3) years of analytical and modeling experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, numerical, presentation skills and reasoning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and presentation skills; track record of capturing value and savings
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Financial solid, quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project communications and stakeholder expectations effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Aviation, Business Processes or Technical-related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in material planning, engineering or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) years of prior airline industry experience
  • Inventory Optimization and Planning system(s)
  • Data analytics and dashboarding for operational metrics

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary, including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

  • Traditional Office environment with travel to various warehouses and stations

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $73,490.00 and $101,080.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
